Great guide, super thorough and explains the intricacies of the wave very well. Thank you for making this video. One other tip for Joe I think is important, albeit minor, is to pay extra attention to Eels during the wave, otherwise they can easily jumpscare you by emerging out from inside of Joe while you're trapped in a corner.

You do have to be very careful and aware of what's going on if you're planning to use that trick, not only can it be pretty awkward to set up but getting aggro from almost any boss while doing it can get you killed as you'll be trapped in a corner unable to escape for an entire cycle.

2:06 I haven’t been able to clip this phenomenon (since I need to clear out video space on my switch) but you can also use Reefslider to avoid being splatted. By using the special right before you get grabbed, you get thrown up into the air but by this point the i-frames have kicked in, making you invulnerable to the damage you would normally receive. I wouldn’t recommend doing this, but it’s good to know in a pinch

You mentioned e-liter and grizzco charger having the ability to hit both the weak point and main body with a single shot, but it should work with all the piercing chargers as well as other AoE weapons such as blasters, brushes and sloshers. 14:13 is a good clip for showing this with the Luna. You're getting a direct hit on the weak point while the AoE blast is producing a second hit flash on Joe's body just to the left of where you're aiming. I don't know if anyone has done testing to confirm it works with all varieties of AoE (including egg throws and various special weapons), but when possible I think it makes sense to aim with the assumption that they could damage both sections.

I totally agree with you. The issue is there is like… no documentation of this anywhere. I can’t find any video clips or explanations on hit boxes on Kings in SR and how different mechanisms - AoE, pierce, etc - affect them and cause damage. I feel like there is a lot in SR that is kind of assumed and believed to be true but not actually verified? I believe it also applies to Specials like Splashdown, it hits several different hit boxes all at once, so damages Kings really well. I am sure this is a thing but I’m hesitant to include it in a video on the off chance I get it wrong and spread misinfo lol

Awesome guide as usual Def cannot stress enough i think this is the worst king wave (barring you know what) that dying makes it an absolute hassle to try and recover from since even 1 death can throw the entire game off i've had that happen before. This is a wonderful guide, thank you for sharing! I play quite a lot but this still reminded me of some areas I need to improve in. I could certainly be more mindful of hitting him constantly rather than looking for eggs first or waiting to hit the weak point. A note with Crab Tank, similar to Maws, you can survive Joe trying to eat you if you are in the ball form. Waiting to use it to damage him instead will probably always be better, so I would not advise doing this on purpose, but this might be handy in a bad situation. I found it out on accident when I didn't have time to leave the circle while already using it. He does still lift you, though. Hope everyone has a great Big Run and good luck!

Ooh, the Joe video! Been looking forward to this one! Thanks again for all the strategy and tips! I never would've known that piercing weapons dealt more damage if they hit both the weak point and pierce to the body behind. I'll definitely be taking advantage of that this weekend in the Big Run event! I did have one question relating to the King waves as a whole, and I apologize if you've already covered this in a previous King video. Basically, I'm was wondering if I could get a straight answer as to whether or not the game reduces the number of lessers and bosses spawned in King waves compared to normal waves, and if so, by how much. While it does feel like there are less lessers than normal, it still often feels like there are so many of them and lesser management is just as crucial as in normal waves. As for bosses, those are the ones I'm wondering if there are any less of than in normal waves, cause I could believe that those spawns are just the same as ever, given how many Golden Eggs a team needs to beat a King. And lastly, one question about Joe specifically. I frequently see players in Freelance throwing bombs into Joe's mouth, like one would do with a normal Maws. Does this actually do any additional damage to Joe when he eats it, or is this just a misconception? Thanks again, and happy fishing!

A chonky guide for a chonky king! Joe's the hardest boss, but I still love her glorious massiveness. Triumvirate is all thats left. Its still a lot, but at least the bosses all work the same as they do on their own, so you only need to factor in their interactions. As well, its just Grizzco Weapons, so the weapon pool is also limited. Now, time to go back and train. Grand Run is coming.

One small suggestion, but I think that the volume of the gameplay footage should be lowered compared to your voiceover. It can be somewhat hard to understand what you're saying when Salmon Run has so many sound effects going off all the time.

Finally I am not in that video thank you for Rachel😀😀👍👍👏👏👏👏. I still remembered that I bump into you, after I know more than 1 month of your channel thanks to Wailord's comment I saw on your channel, and I subscribed to your channel, mhl on jsj with the weapons that are in your last clip of you doing roll damage to joe. I think I was on a host on that one and you are last player. On a joe fight on a high tideI was splat at least 3 times I think, one joe that I was on a fish stick pole and did not realize that about joe placement I got splated by joe, plus I got a very nice view of the area. Someone was able to revive me of a bomb. I went to the water because of steel eel bop me with knock back into the water. I used my wave breaker, just before I went to the water, special to revive myself. Even after my deaths the you and your teammates beat Joe. At least my deaths screws up Joe's location of switching to my teammates realized that this is my first win with Rachel in a match, including beating joe. I comment you on this one. I also comment on Chewoomy too. She told me that she knows you since splatoon 3. Also that means that I was on a joe fight, with my deaths, 1 joe beaten for you. I have to more careful of bumping into people. I might accidentally bump into the people I know especially, Chewoomy, who is a revive monster of liking to revive her teammates and knows of my in-game name of me accidentally say my in-game to Chewoomy, and you Rachel.

I´m not sure if you said this in the video, but a tip for any king salmonid is to always keep a golden egg with you, use this egg to kill any boss quickly, when you kill a boss make sure to shoot 2 eggs to the king and keep 1 to kill another boss, this is because time is very important with king salmonids so you can spend less time to shoot boss salmonids and focus a bit more on moving and the king

I think no weapon would benefit from using bombs instead of the main weapon… splat bombs only do 180 damage. Back on topic, This is heavily informative as 48 Golden Eggs is too much and is most definitely un realistic mostly. Sixteen golden eggs is mostly common practice, do not worry channel host as your Sword and Bow game play is top notch. I had shared all three videos with my over fisher team and these videos will heavily be useful for us. This helicopter trophy is ours most definitely. As I did not know that Tina could consume everything else around her, as I am not familiar with the in depth core details of salmon run, as I am just mostly a X Rank Player, ha ha. I call Joe, Tina as it's part of it's name towards the end and why not have the female member of the group as "A" mostly means female while "O" mostly means Male. Call me traditional but that is what I am.
