You cant become capable of doing this just by watching a video. It requires lots of practice against a fully resisting opponent.

in a knife attack, the moment u in his melee range u already losing even before the attacker pull out his knife. Physical distancing attitude and discipline in this pandemic time is the perfect example how u should keep ur distance with strangers.

There are so many videos on knife defense, what I want to see is defense against long blade weapons like cutlass and machete. Attacks from these kinds of weapons are also real
@mdub20005 жыл бұрын
I think because the first defence is to run lol I mean with a sword or machete you don't stick around and if you have to you stay in long range...if you've watched real bolo vs bolo vids you'll see they all stay long range and then jab when they think they have an opening.

I'm from Colombia and some farmers fight each other with machete. I never saw something like that because I'm a city man but believe me you need to be a great fighter to face something like this.

This is a great video. So many videos do not show how to deal with the leveraging arm.
@billslayer11754 жыл бұрын
And neither does this video! It's not showing any practical way to deal with it. One way...and this will be tough to explain with the written word. Trap his grabbing hand with your same hand (in this case trap with your own left hand), step back with your left foot (gaining distance and allowing for a bit of off lining). Then use your right arm sort of like a down block/inside block (think of a karate type movement). But you are not striking to injure his arm...you want to gain a leverage point on his arm. Now drop your weight (all these moves basically happen together). You are now pulling him forward AND downward and pitching him into the ground. He'll need to brace his knife hand on the ground in order to not smash his face into the ground. Then kick him in the head!

Do low leg kicks provide enough separation to be safe?

Ok. I have a stupid question: should I keep my eye on the weapon to try to keep it away, all the while trying to force him into defensive mode with my other arm? Is there a way to redirect the knived arm energy for control?
@soegitohartanto19894 жыл бұрын
Good question never focus on knife but try out of line try to get behind him because knife attacck is difficult to predict.

It would be fun to see a knife defense instructor, and a knife attack instructor, try to demonstrate to us witch would be the winner of the confrontation! I bet it would go back and forth, back and forth, in the " what if " game! :).
@hanumansrivijaya6 жыл бұрын
Thank You, Sir, many valuable advises in this video, here are my thoughts since most victims didn't see the knife ( dim light and tunnel vision) should we have the same MO for unarmed and armed attack? (quicker for the brain if it only has one same answer to different threat) positioning oneself outside his forward foot (angling) in either a matching or mirror stance, matching stance allows the "Thai roundhouse low-kick behind the knee but in a crushing fashion" of his forward leg thus turning the hip line and the shoulder line, or applying Hubud-Lubud to his reaching forward arm to take the outside line...

Eyes, balls, whatever. Someone produces a knife it's a life threatening situation. If you can't get away nothing is off limits. Unless you want stabbed.

in reality by the time you realise you have been grabbed (being unexpected) he has stabbed you 6 or 7 times

Why are you just standing there in front of a guy holding a knife???? If you see the knife...either get outta there or hit him before he can begin his attack. You're allowing him to dictate the situation (time of attack and also the range).

In that moment once you trap his arm with the knife,I can see that his legs are open for groin kicks while maintaining control of his arm with the knife. May be he will drop the knife,if you continue groin kicks while maintaining control the arm holding the knife. Just saying from self experience.

Was in one knife fight... Selling a motorcycle this guy put a knife to my throat from behind... Had given him a ride on it... He wanted to take it for a ride himself... So used the bike to pull him over since he was bigger by about 30 lbs... Got the knife down to my chest... He then tried to stab me in the chest so rerouted it into his own arm...
