Not exactly, Fred. The thing with Windows is that it should already be defragging your system periodically. If it takes a long time that probably means something is wrong with your computer. I hope you got better performance, though.

NOTICE!!!!!: Most laptops have a SSD (Solid State Drive) storage. This type of storage does not need Defragmentation because a SSD does not have any moving parts and can access all parts of the storage device at once (the location doesnt matter, the speed will be the same). Some laptops do contain a HDD (Hard Disk Drive) Storage that has a needle head and a metal platter. The the platter physically spins while the needle moves to and read/writes to data to the platter. When programs are fragmented, their data is scattered around the Hard Drive and could slow run speeds because the needle head needs to constantly move to different parts of the Hard Drive to grab the data. If you defragment an SSD, you are unnecessarily wearing out the storage's life span for no added benefit. All SSD have a certain number of rewrites before it dies. Most laptops dont contain a HDD storage device because HDD are very delicate and if you move too suddenly at the wrong time, it might kill the Hard Drive. Hard Drives are mostly found in Desktop computers because the actual computer is most likely sitting on a desk or a floor and isnt moved around constantly. If your pc is slow, check for other reason why it could be the case. Maybe your storage space is full, Maybe you have start up apps, ect.

no need to worry. windows doesn't do defragment on SSD. it just Trims it which is necessary. you cannot defrag an ssd unless you do it manually with CMD

I use a program known as Piriform Defragger. Its way better then the defragger that you used in this video, wherein, Piriform Defragger actually does defrag the drive when Windows defragger does not.

slight issue here captain , i'm using StoreMi (A.K.A FuzeDrive) my SSHD (low boot-drive 2TB) is fuzed to my SSD (fast 120gb) so instead of having a C: and D: all i have is a C: SSD drive of 2.2TB and defrag (analyze) is grayed out. can i no defrag the SSHD ?

Definitely on the old mechanical hard drives. But Never on SSD's. You can check your Device Manager if you don't know which one you have installed in your system.

SSDs do not defrag what optimize is doing is cleaning sectors on the drive since SSD's should not be defraged because the way they work + defragging can kill an SSD and the windows optimization just cleanses the ssd to keep it running smooth. Please do not use a defrag tool thats defrags but optmizes most defrag tools have a optmization option so yea the fragsments are only bad on 7200rpm hard disks because it use a spinning magnetic platters to store data where ssds are static and do not move so way there file systems work are diffrent and having fragments is ok with the speed of ssds you be Ok.
