I normally will boil 2 pots of water and place them on a cutting board in the freezer and close the door, I check ever 1/2 hour and empty the pan that I place in the bottom. Keep 2 more pots of water boiling in case you need it. Don't forget to put towels around the freezer if it's indoors, as my 2 freezer are. This year I purchased a large frost free stand lone freezer, I'm loving her. I think I'm addicted too freezer space. I have 4. Side by side, a small top load, a 4 foot with 4 shelves, and my very large new addition. We're a family of 2, I bulk cook and bulk buy meats and frozen vegetables. I'm always trying to find new storage ideas. Love the small tubs. I use recycling bags to keep like with like. Thanks Also I'm addicted to freezer videos 🤣🤣.

Loved the idea of using containers to categorize and organize the items. Nice presentation. Thanks.

I especially like it for small items. I have a big double size plastic shoe box that fits in the freezer that holds lots of small bowl shaped 4 oz snap top containers. By themselves the small containers don't stack well in a freezer so it's great having the storage container to fit them all in. :-)

thanks for tips, I purchased my first freezer last year and I need to defrost it. my mom used to use a knife to scrape the ice now I know not to use a knife. I love the ideas of bins to hold food neatly since I have a chest freezer instead of just piling it on top of everything thanks again

My mom taught me to boil water in our biggest widest shallow pots. Once food is out splash hot water around with a small cup to get the worst of it. Then leave pots one per shelf and close door for a while. For her, a cigarette or two. Go back and use the plastic spatula but use fresh hot water to sluce thicker areas or clear fine racking. Cheers brian

Hello Angela! When a client asks for special projects, refrigerator cleaning ($30) + inside 1 cabinet ($12) + regular basic cleaning ($25/hour), style “try to get done as maximum as you can” in 3 hours: In this case, normally, should we budgeted time and then charge the 2 special projects a side the 3 hours given by the client and explain them or include those into the 3 hours requested by the client? I’m new at house cleaning, Having hard time to charge and deal with special projects. Thanks!!!!

This seems to be the tips for people who have a separate freezer. What about for the basic full sized fridge with a seperate freezer at the top?? Wouldn't unplugging it unplug the entire fridge as well? SO I have to empty the contents of my freezer AND my entire fridge?
@AskAngelaBrown7 ай бұрын
Most side by side freezers (one side fridge and the other side freezer) in the past 20 years is self-defrosting. If you have a freezer that needs to be defrosted, (usually it will be on the top of the fridge, and the fridge under the freezer) then yes, you will have to empty all the contents from both. Defrost the freezer and put all the contents back. That would be the only way to not get water all over your food and condiments.

My freezer has simple pipes without many radiator blades and the ice fell off by itself with a little help after about an hour, and most of it could be removed in solid form. I suspect that the pipes carry heat from the outside because I heard bubbling and hissing during the melting process. My freezer hadn't been defrosted for several years, until I finally consumed all the stored food. I've used a fan placed on a stool with another freezer.

I'm so glad your freezer is defrosted now. That is a great story and I'll bet its so rewarding to be able to put food back in there now that there is space. High Five! You get a gold star! :-)

Never use a hair dryer in your freezer. All manufacturers say this in the owner's manual. I put hot water in a bucket and close the door for 15-20 minutes.

I just found your channel and I know this is year old but I read online when I got my first stand alone freezer that you shouldn’t use hair dryers to defrost it because it can damage things and cause the freezer to stop working. So is this not true?
@AskAngelaBrown2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if it's true for all freezers. So far I haven't had any issues using the steamer to clean mine.
@mystikskye2 жыл бұрын
@@AskAngelaBrown do you think using a steamer would be better than using a hair dryer? I’m getting a new freezer tomorrow actually and I want to make sure I take care of it the right way from the beginning.

I have observed where heated water is poured on the ice. Or, a pot of boiled water was placed in the freezer for a while. Is this a dangerous practice?
@AskAngelaBrown4 жыл бұрын
I've also observed this. And I'm assuming when people do this the freezer is turned off at the breaker or unplugged? It is done as a way to speed up the process because it can take HOURS to melt ice if defrosted and there is a lot of build up.
@godsown46832 жыл бұрын
I did it and it really works wonders. Does not spoil the freezer.

Hot water & close the door for 20 mins. No scraping.

It depends on how much build up there is. Your solution sounds like it would work in light maintenance defrosting situations. Thanks for recommending this. 👏

My freezer is in the house and would need to be moved outside to avoid flooding the utility room. I assume I would need to hire a maid service because I can't move the freezer myself.
@AskAngelaBrown4 жыл бұрын
+Leah Nanchy it is probably a better idea to put several towels on the floor of the utility room and wipe up the floor as the freezer thaws. I don’t know a maid service that moves freezers for liability reasons. And then you would have to move it back in. In any event, keep me posted. I want to hear how this works out. 😁

Hair dryer damage freezer
@AskAngelaBrown2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it can damage the freezer if you don't unplug the freezer before defrosting. Always unplug the freezer first before you begin any defrosting process. This will help the water thaw and drain, rather than trying to blow hot air at a cool coil.
