So you know that you have hip or knee osteoarthritis, and it hurts, or you're struggling with things in day to day life, but you haven't tried anything or taken anything. Before you see me to consider a hip or knee replacement, you should always try to do these things first, to delay things if you can. Whilst X-rays can show advanced osteoarthritis, the only thing that matters is your quality of life, activity levels, and functional expectations. In this video, we go through some of those things, and how to delay seeing me for as long as possible, until it's necessary to have your hip or knee replaced.

Very useful ….feel way too young to be watching this video. I have personally found a good red light panel has been a game changer for my knee pain.

Weight lose is currently helping me with my hip discomfort. I was never over weight 170lbs 5'10 but lost 20 pounds(150 now) and pain is alot less thrpugh a days work. I'm 55 and trying to delay the surgery. I am also using alot of turmeric(never eating before),omega 3s and glucosamine chondroitine but the weight lose is the most recent thing. Ive known for 5 years that I need a replacement, trying to make 60 as I still need to work.

If a person has an inkling that their anterior cruciate ligament could be damaged (this could be confirmed by having an MRI), is it better to rest (until the MRI results are available), rather than attempting specific knee- strengthing exercises?

If you have ruptured your ACL, it's best to avoid pivoting style sports until you've had your MRI. Additionally,m mother injuries may occur at the same time, which can cause further damage if you exercise on those injuries (ie meniscal or chondral tears)
