I use smart lightbulbs and Alexa to turn on and off the lights. I LOVE my blackout curtains - they really work to provide a better night's sleep. I also clip charging cables on the wall at the top of my short headboard for easy access (the pillows hide the clip and cords). Great ideas!

Smartbulbs make no sense. Regular bulbs with smart relays o smart switches is the way to go.

@@rafikz77if you use the physical switch you turn off the power and the smartbulb won't work. When you have a family or people come over you want that everything works as a regular house and all the time, not saying all the people all the time: remember not switching the light off with the switch

You mentioned not to buy matching bedroom pieces. When my first ex and I were furnishing our new home (1980s), we fell in love with a particular design style. When it came to the dining room, not finding a different style we liked, we went with the same design as our bedroom. Matchy matchy squared!

I plug my bedside lamp into a small device that plugs into the wall outlet. It allows me to turn the lamp on and off with a tiny remote that rests on my bedside table. Much easier than reaching up to the lamp's switch.

In my small space, for storage, I used floating shelves between two windows with baskets on top the shelves. The key to getting this right is to use high-end matching baskets. It's a really unique look that maximizes vertical space.

Haha I meant don’t get furniture sets (exact same). The one I had was from the same type of wood, but completely different silhouettes (bed frame is curved with round legs, bedside table is very angular with tapered legs).

What’s the best linen for cats? My cat has snagged many of my sheets with her nails and she recently ripped my sheets when she tried to bite my feet under the blankets. I’ve tried so many different type of materials but still haven’t found anything that can stand up to a cat.
