Thank you so much for this video! I experimented with houses along a road with the services on the same road (all in a row), thinking that it must be more efficient than a 9x9! However, I never put them in a loop. Will try your solution immediately.

Thanks, i'm glad to help. The 22x6 is the most efficient loop design due to utilising returning walker to cover rest of the loop as i explained. So with this you will be getting maximum population density for one set of services.

Yeah, we used this (22 x 7) 25 years ago when the game first came out. 4 rows of 20 houses each, gardens and fountains down the center between the housing rows. Works well. Have 2 markets on either end to support everyone. Haven't played this in nearly 20 years. Dusting this off and playing again (Augustus version).

When there's little space I like going with blocks that are 7x14, or sometimes 7x18. Not quite as efficient as yours, but there's enough room in them for nice looking decorations :)

Hah i use 8x16 or 9x17 blocks when i want the fountains to be nicely centered. In this case, exactly 20 2x2 houses are obtained. I played Caesar 3 in 1998 (omg). A month and a half ago I decided to play Caesar 3 again. Surprisingly, this old piece of shit gave me pleasure. I used random mod augustus version 1.31. Yes, I know there are newer versions, but I don't care. First I went through all the military missions. The civilians turned out to be much more difficult. Then I activated all the additional options of the mod (global labor pool, etc.) and finally went through them all, for the first time in 25 years. I even passed the damn Lugdunum, it was the last one. In my opinion, the most difficult and interesting missions are Mediolanum, Carthago and Caesarea. I remember exactly that 25 years ago I fought off all the attacks of Caesar's legions. Maybe I'll make him angry again and fight back using only 6 forts.

Middle houses wont be supplied by fountain water during guide, cause this type of climate grants you 9x9 water cells around fountain, and now look closer, there is 2x2 blocks of houses that alocated between fountain's supply. But after, we can see gameplay with 20 houses in row (no 22!). Is it mistake of numbers? Or what?

Including roads its 24x8 layout. Without roads its 22x6 i think i made a mistake there with the fountain. In any case fountain costs 4 workers which compared to a whole ser of services like theater school etc is nothing. On desert maps 22x6 takes 6 fountains but has 3x the poo cap of 9x9.
