I don't know how to use AI, but it looks like you get the double lines where you welded multiple rectangles together. Added the lines from each?

Miley, are you talking about where I show two different ways to draw the irregular shape? I do first one, then the other but I would only use one method at a time. Each method gives you only one line, including using pathfinder to union the two shapes. If you mean somewhere else, please send me the time stamp of where you have the question and I'll take a look!

One of the things I love about Corel Draw is when I export my .SVGs I can just check a box and it will convert all the text to shapes so I don't have to do it manually.

Well that's cool! I use the Adobe suite, mostly for the video editing tools. I don't know much about Corel, but I hear it's very good. Thanks for the info, Scott! This will be helpful to other viewers who read the comments, as I do when I'm researching a topic.

Sweet, you answered a question I had about your new cutter... you can use Lightburn! That's gotta be a prereq for any cutter I dream of eventually buying. Nice project.

Randolph, I used to use RDWorks, but I tried the Lightburn free trial and there was no looking back. Far, far superior!!

can you link where you got the magnets?

Jeffrey, I tried adding the link, but KZbin blocked it. I bought them on Amazon. Search for: E BAVITE Strong Neodymium bar Magnets

Can I purchase an set of 4 from you
@GreylightMay Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, tbennett, but I don't make things to sell. I'm so overextended with just creating content for multiple channels I just don't have the time, even when I want to help. This is a great project for you to use to practice your own design skills. You can do it!! Once you learn how to design things, you can make anything! If you don't have Illustrator, you can use Inkscape, it's free. These simple rectangular shapes are very forgiving, and if you get stuck I can answer questions, or link you to another of my videos that are relevant. Good luck!!

Could you post or share the lightburn file?
@GreylightMay2 жыл бұрын
Huskerminion, i was just chatting about this on Reddit with someone. I'm trying to simplify my life and taking down my website, where I used to make files available. Do you have suggestions on free download solutions that have licensing options? My husband has suggested Github, but I'm thinking that may be too complicated for my viewers. Any ideas?

@@GreylightMay Maybe Thingiverse?
@GreylightMay2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that came to mind for me as well. I will do research on whether or not it lets you attach a license that restricts resale. Not an issue for these clamps, they are so simple, but I want to do everything in one place, and many of my designs are complex and valuable. If I give them away, I don't want someone else to go into business cutting and selling them; I restrict use to making things for friends and family. On my website, downloaders had to click through acknowledgement of the license before they could access the file. If/when I post this, I will add the link to the description!

Unfortunately my bed is made from stainless steel so magnets don't work.
@GreylightMay2 жыл бұрын
Stephen, what kind of cutter do you have? Was the stainless steel an upgrade?
@StephenBoyd212 жыл бұрын
@@GreylightMay it’s called a Vevor. I suspect that it’s only available in the UK. I’d certainly prefer a honeycomb because the smoke struggles to get to the vent. The bed is 90% solid.
@GreylightMay2 жыл бұрын
Stephen, it seems like all the beds have issues. I watched a video about honeycomb being a fire hazard, especially when cutting a lot of acrylic. The fumes condense in the honeycomb and leave a flammable coating of acrylic impossible to clean off. Scared the heck out of me! Only an issue in a high volume production setting, which is not me, but still a reminder to never leave the machine alone when cutting.
