Whenever designing weapons, you should always keep the wielder in mind. Especially in fantasy worlds, weapons are often custom-made for the wielder and have specific traits the wielder likes to utilise in battle, or a design the wielder likes. when you know the weapon when you know the master. Also, if you read this far down, here's a cookie ... sorry I ate it...

"You should, in theory, be able to stab someone with every side of your weapon because- it's a weapon" ...I shall remember these words of wisdom forever! 🙏
@HamiltonIsLife9 жыл бұрын

@CenSilver7 жыл бұрын
Um... I don't wanna break your little fun bubble, buddy... but... that's actually a very dumb concept. You see, the only few cases where this is appliable is if you have a tiny spike under Melee weapons such as a sword or a hammer. But even in melee weapons, any sorts of actual "stabbing" blade would be incredibly unwise to put, since if you need to quickly grab your weapon from somewhere, be it preparing for battle and unsheathing it, or just plainly getting it from somewhere because you had to throw it or got it knocked off your hand, you could easily get your hand cut by accidentally sweeping in one of the sides of the sharp edges before reaching the handle itself. As for guns, it's pretty much unfeasible to actually handle the gun, since most heavy guns, to be properly wielded, need their butt to be able to rest on your shoulder. And smaller guns like Pistols or the like, to be reloaded, unloaded, and sometimes even when fire need you to quickly pass your hand near their rear. Where, again, it'd easily get cut accidentally by the stabbing blade. Don't let yourself be carried by edginess, people. The edgier a weapon (Or armor, or tool, or pretty much anything else) looks, the worst it would be to actually wield it IRL. If it were even feasibly useful at all.

Well, you won't be going all out on a Cintiq anytime soon, but if you really want one go ahead and get a Wacom Intuos. They're pretty cheap, only about $70, and it's Wacom so you know you're getting a good product anyway. Like +Dakota Wright said, it is a challenge getting used to the tablet, but you will if you just draw with it very often. Replace your mouse with it all together until you're really comfortable with it. Don't let that hold you back if you really want to use one.

Stylus work on something like an Intuos is a huge adjustment, whether you are going from paper to digital or from being a lifelong keyboard and mouse person to graphic art on a stylus. The work flow on digital side is difficult to adjust to. One other important note, digital stylus pointer tracking (the mousing of the pointer) frequently will lag behind your actual real time painting/drawing. I noticed it when using a Wacom tablet while editing photo.

Jazza... thank you! I've been looking for ways to design fantasy weapons, especially fantasy firearms which is a topic that is NOT widely discussed. BTW, the thing about fantasy/sci fi firearms... personally, one day I'm going to take this concept and design fantasy firearms that actually work. Most sci-fi guns are impractical pieces of crap that no one could use beyond point blank in real life (maybe that's the reason stormtroopers have such shitty aim) and as a self-proclaimed gun nut, I will make it a mission in life to design fantasy guns that you actually can use. It isn't even that hard. In the past 10 years, many gun manufacturers already came up with guns that look pretty sci-fi to begin with...

+Peter Christiaanse Lol, the game engines thing might confuse u, if u r devolving games as a unknown developer u might need a game engine that is free to download. U have a few choices here. Unity Engine, Source Engine, Cry Engine and Unreal Engine. All of them have their advantages and disadvantages, so google them if u want, I prefer to use Unreal, it is simple but advanced. And as far as the modelling goes, u can use anything. Many people go for Maya but I say just use Blender. Blender is how I get my models and over the months I've gone better at modelling. Keep working hard and hopefully u will have your own Dream FPS game someday.

The laser sights on a gun would be right below where the bullet comes out. Also, the kind of gun you went with is the one that shifts the whole top (except the barrel, of course) backward when fired in a way that can slice your thumb if you lift it up high, so the zig-zag line on there looks a bit weird.

Don't worry, all fantasy weapons are made of impossobilum, a material that makes extremely impractical and fragile designs impossibly usable.

Its only a magazine, not a clip, but it really doesnt fucking matter anyway

+Sean Chamberlain I went through hunters safety, i'm not taking this from 10 year olds who learned that from call of duty. and most people only say magazine when its a loaded clip, and when "I just went through a magazine."
@seanchamberlain87438 жыл бұрын
Censored Play Clips are devices that store multiple rounds. You use the clip to load the magazine quickly, rather than putting each bullet in one by one

I'd be a really large buzzkill if I come in and say that though cool, none of the designs would be practical, wouldn't I... well, coming from a bladesmith, none of the designs are practical. You won't get much more practical as far as blades go because, well, we've have thousands of years to perfect them, and I highly doubt you will make them any better.

In reality, if you are drawing or creating graphic art in general, you usually want your weapons to stand out and regular blades doesn't really do that, so you have to make them somewhat unrealistic but atleast look good to have an excuse lul

That guy Not exsactly. sometimes they do try to add effects to make the weapon more deadly; However they forget about their physics classes.

The redisigned gun silhouette kinda looks like a huge ship! Imagine a ship that can change it's scale and turn into a weapon! That sounds cool! You can travel on water and fight with the same thing!

This is such a great idea. I'm sure it's pretty well known but to me it's one of those "it's so simple, why didn't I think of that" techniques. Thanks Jazza you're a top bloke ;)
