I need more videos of solidworks! you are the best in all of Internet about the Twisty Puzzle design on solidworks (sorry my english) when you can, upload more! :)

So I've made some progress and designed a puzzle. Got it printed, works nice, but is there anyway I could get sticker sheets for oliver's stickers? I'm not sure how I'm supposed to make them since the surface is curved.
@matt.bahner9 жыл бұрын
+Proxy's Cubes you can design the stickers right in solidowrks and export the sketches as .dwg files and have oliver cut them
@ProxysCubess9 жыл бұрын
+Matt Bahner yea but how do I do that with curved surfaces?
@matt.bahner9 жыл бұрын
as long as the surfaces are not too curved you can just design it on a plane perpendicular to the normal of the surface

Hmm I'll try.

I really like your videos and I hope that you continue making them. And I have 2 questions to you: Could you make a tutorial how to make puzzles that are not cube-shaped or have more that six axes? When you design a puzzle which didn't exist before, how do you know/learn how to solve them? I hope you reply to my questions😊

Wow I never thought it would be so easy to design

Why do you only need tolerances on the horizontal faces but not the vertical ones?
@matt.bahner9 жыл бұрын
+PerpetualCubingMachine vertical tolerances will "add up". Think about if all the pieces were pushed together, there would be a large gap. Anyway, those tolerances will promote wobbling and poor allignment

I really want to start making my own twisty puzzles but I don't know which version of solid works I should buy, which one are you using in this video?
@matt.bahner7 жыл бұрын
Cameron Tankersley any version should work fine as long as it's made somewhat recently. Anything after 2010 should be fine the newer the better

Do you think an FDM 17x17 would be possible with this mech? I just got 10 kg of PLA for free :)

yes

Very helpful series(es? lol), I already managed to design a Crazy Cross Cube even though I just started using Solidworks a couple of weeks ago :D Thanks so much! Also, another question. Since you've worked with the floating anchor mechanism before, how stable would you say it is compared to V-mech? because I want to design a Mini 7x7 that uses the floating anchor mech.
@matt.bahner9 жыл бұрын
+Proxy's Cubes floating anchor really hasnet been tested much on smallish cubes. Idk try it I guess. It works well for very large puzzles though
@ProxysCubess9 жыл бұрын
+Matt Bahner ah, I see. I'm very curious about those multiple mechanisms you linked though, besides the Cylindrical, Conical and Floating anchor mechs, I haven't ever seen those get tried, did anybody ever use them or are they just hypothetical?
@matt.bahner9 жыл бұрын
A good amount of those mechs have been tested but I know they all don't work well.

+Proxy's Cubes If you look at Oskar's fail 17x17x17 prototype video, the cube uses the Pagoda style mechanism. Also, there is a video on Tony Fisher's channel showing an entire lecture on the puzzle!
