In the Steve Jobs biography they said the reason why they did rounded edges was because people were afraid of technology so it made the products accessible and not threatening to pick it up.

That’s so Frank Lloyd Wright thinking. He once said that “the box was a fascist symbol”. He loved his rounded corners and edges.

Generally, more rounded stuff is more friendly. Think of kids toys that are usually really rounded. When the iPhone and iPod first came out, Apple was probably more concerned about getting people to accept the tech rather than performance

really interesting design analysis - I appreciate the application of the explanation at each stage!! I've used apple products all my life, and can confidently say that I won't be switching any time soon... a big part of that is the stunning design language and genuine quality. thank you for this video.

@@somegraythings Starting from the obvious ones like Apple(already done), Braun and Dyson can be a nice addition to this series. Alongside with some other brands that maybe..are underrated and overlooked in terms of design language.

Rounded corners have to do with fluidity and agility. The sharper the corners the less moveable and fluid a shape appears

Great video David! I am always so inspired when I watch your videos - explanations, the visuals are good, and the pace is just my style. Its amazing that your analysis of the brand and their products result in a product like this - I think I would have gotten a completely different result :-) But I like it very much, and all your decisions are explained too. I was wondering however, why you started with a rectangular shape, and not a square, as the previous routers from Apple?
@somegraythings
@somegraythings Жыл бұрын
Oh Mads, you’re making me blush. I think a square would have been too much like other Apple products (ex. Mac Mini/studio). I thought they would try a different aspect ratio for a new product line. I also kind of liked the look of this metal bar type thing :)

@@designersvane oh yeah it looks super lame at the beginning haha. But that's an interesting point, I think part of the "heavy" thing might include aspect ratios as well. Maybe on the next thing, I will make it a bit more chonky in the beginning

How i understand is why apple products are always recognizable is because they stick to a design for a long time or they change things in a way it is still recognizable that's why apple products are icon Nothing is a company that is following apple design philosophy following the apple footstep

dude i just clicked on it from the main page to see the rest later but , I finished 11 minutes later So, Good job! you talking soo cool and I always appreciate the way you attention to details. what you said is pretty close to the official guide, though ;) but I would have some comments here :) Things like if they could be considered, then we had more Apply things at the end! LOL So The first thing is the Scale and dimensions yea there are some curves at the corners but not any curvature!/ completely harmonized with the boxy shape in a golden ratio way 2- they add / or remove or form by logic/ for example, it should be Aluminum because of the recycling process and the costs saving that this specific material could bring to company / (Melting and reusing again) the curves happen since the form of the tool! / we see it on each edge of the keyboard's key hole or the port's hole or even at the two ends of the laptop front edge cut, as you showed in the pictures. So maybe considering the making process or the tools that gonna be used in , would give us a look closer to APPLY design ;) The third. Fakiinn countless amount of prototyping. to get what is best fit, out of thousands . not just the first best result! BTW. the Apple book that called Apple book.! makes us more familiar with the behind scene of the reasoning behind every design at Apple. So, if you have it in the library give it shot :) AND overall, thank you that opened this cool topic by creating this content/ Cool man 😗
