When I use a jack to lift one corner at a time to a 996TT, I can spin the rear wheels easily but not the front. It’d take a lot of effort to do even a quarter turn. I did pump the brake pedal a few times like some suggested to relax the calipers. Gear in neutral and parking brake released. I did the shake test on front wheels. No vertical movement and some horizontal, problem just steering linkages. So what could it be that makes the front wheels so hard to turn? Is it the AWD system? The car is making rumbling noise on the road and that’s why I’m doing this.

@@HelpMeDIY well, I figured it out. Putting both front wheels up on jacks makes the wheels turn a whole lot easier.

My duramax had such a bad bearing that the wheel wobbled slightly. Truck didn't have many tells, just too loud to hear it and there wasn't any bad handling feedback that you would expect for a wheel bearing that was about to blow. I caught it between tire rotations and right before driving across state. Lucky.

+The Replacement for Displacement glad you caught it! I wouldn’t have caught mine if it weren’t for the track inspection. Now I know what to look for.

Another wheel bearing tell: Put one hand on the spring and spin the tire with the other hand. You will feel the vibration in the spring.

Exactly what I discovered by pure luck. Thanks for the confirmation.
