Hello Bitmain Master! Your video was very helpful to get a relative understanding of how one can find problems in a Bitmain miner. I saved up to buy one Antminer L3+ and it finally arrived two weeks ago. I was a happy miner until I went to check on it and i found it off ... looking at the control pannel, i can see that 3 of the 4 hashboards are not functioning anymore. I have contacted bitmain for support but i would really want to do get this problem sorted fastest because everyday they are not mining I am loosing money ... I hope you are able to help. I got a used t17 ran for less than a week and 1 board went out, but I see some heat sinks fell off. I was running with 2 boards for another week, tops and second board went out for no reason. Ambient temps 60 degrees F, very cool chip temps. Just went out for no reason. 0 asics found on that board. Any idea where to start with this board? In about 2 weeks time I lost 2 boards. The one board was date stamped with Jan 2021 so its not that old. Cool inside temps with very low humidity since it is winter. Any help would be awesome. ' thanks,

Thanks so much for a great video. I have an antminer L3+ which is only a week old and one of the chips (#3) now showing "xxxx". The PCB temp has been kept under 60°C. I've noted all your points and will rectify the environment, however, in the meantime should I be returning this under warranty or should I just eliminate the environmental issues and keep running with it since it's only early signs?

Very informative video! What do you think is the issue if an Antminer S9 boots up (fans are running), but none of the hashboards are on (indicated by no red leds) and can no longer be logged into or identified by the router? This is the current state of one of my S9s. I'm still under the 180 days warranty, so I'm probably not going to pop it open and void it, but I'm curious what may have caused this. Bad control board maybe, since I can no longer log into it? Now my next biggest challenge is figuring out how to ship this thing back to Bitmain from the US because their instructions are not very clear.

+Curtis Antoine it sounds like you do have it control board problem since it will not connect. However I would try a different ethernet cable, unplug all but one board, and test each board individually. As far as the IP address unless you made it a static IP it can change if it is reset you will need to use a ping tool in order to detect everything that's on your network if it does not detect the antminer at all then I would safely say that it's the control board

Hey. Great video. Very informative. I'm having an issue with one of my T9 antminers. It will work for 4 days or so just fine, then one of the hash boards will drop to zero. I can let it cool down and start it again and the same thing will happen. I looked on bitmains site and they have a 180 day warranty, and i'm a few days away from not being covered by that. +Paul Sookraj the air flow has to be pressure natural or only .25 static at the most as the static pressure increases the cfm reduction grows for example if the static pressure is .50 in wc the amount of air that is being moved through the miners is dropped by half that is how many people have been destroying the miners they have with out even knowing why they were having a problem until it's to late

Thank you so much for your expertise BM much appreciated. If I may add I have two S9 's in a small room ( bathroom size) and I have created two ports. One for the intake air and one for the fans to blow outside. I have the two fans blowing straight out of the room into the atmosphere. I think that I will be okay as the the inlet opening is slightly larger that the exhaust port. I would really like to hear your comment on this. +Paul Sookraj at 5000 RPMs the fans on miners are moving 300 CFM this needs to be made up with approximately 325 CFM into the room to achieve a very low static pressure situation just simply having a hole in the wall will not do it not unless the whole is incredibly large. For instance you will need one square inch per CFM. 4A opening with no fan assistance the makeup air hole would have to be 600 square inches

I swopped my antminer L3+ control board with an A3 antminer control board. I booted then flashed the control board with the antminer l3+ firmware, but did this with the hashboards connected (boot and firmware flash). Now my hashing boards are missing completely after multiple firmware flashes. Also each board not picking up seperately. Hi, Do you know ...if someone were to plug in just one or two hashing boards to a s7 data controller board, and plug in all the necessary cables, would that miner still work (like ...mining 1/3 or 2/3 of the capacity)? I have just recently had a problem on my s9 where one hashing board just stopped working. I doesn't seem to recognize the board either giving me no indication of frequency or heat. I keep my miners in great condition with minimal dust etc. I have tried testing the capacitors and they seem fine. I can't seem to figure out the problem, any help would be greatly appreciated. +Seth Nicodemus this is happened to me as well. first try installing new firmware. if this does not work disconnect the other two boards, and see if the board begins to function by itself. if this is the case then it is a problem with the Main board. when tis going through its Diagnostics not sensing that everything is working correctly. then it disconnects from the board. If the board does not work then you will need to send it to bitmain warranty

Keep your pressure at standard sea level condition - 14.7PSI. Are those miners beyond 180 days already? If so, and with your environmentally controlled room, have the boards exposed. **REMEMBER to keep moisture content of the air below the standard. It will prevent moisture build-ups. ** Silica and/or salts on the floor will get all water/moisture at low.

i have limtied power supply of 1200 watts and adding another power supply to the story is not possable. was going to replace the none working s5 boards with 1 s7 board then remove 1 of the s5 board etc. i can get a s7 board for around $80. vs $300-600 for an s7 miner it self. how wold i go about it cab i use the old heat sink for the s5 on the back of the s7?

what about ASIC #48 on S7? core voltage is 10.5v, also 14v ldo is ok. clocks from crystals is ok, TF LED is on after reset signal goes high, 0.72v on each chip (vcore) and temperature goes on (like it starting hashing). but its still asic #48, hashrate 0. control board checked and is ok. flashed firmware,. some times board show asic 1 .

They do have a US location in California to ship the miner to, but they don't actually repair it there. It just gets forwarded to China at no extra cost to you. So you save on shipping but for some reason it takes a 4-5 weeks for them to get it back in China. Also, you are not able to track it between the time they get it in Cali and China. I've been paying the extra to ship them directly to China. The turnaround is so much faster that it's worth it for the new S9's. I can ship via UPS and they get it in 3-4 business days.

Hello bitcoin master. I have a antminer a3 that was working absolutely fine, then all of a sudden after just a couple of days one of the boards has stopped working. It doesnt even show up in the UI at all - only the stats of the other 2 boards. It came back on for about 6 hours then went off again and hasn't showed up since. eray aksu I've got the same problem with my d3.... and I know a lot of cases in which D3 are subject of hashboards problems.... D3's hardware is so weak... I tried to do re reset by pushing the reset button, changing the frequency and the PsU with no results so I'll send the broken hashboard back to bitmain...

+eray aksu the D3 does have an issue with recognizing the boards. please update your firmware this will help in most cases. if your board is damaged then it will not show up.

Thats bad, and you don't have any clue about the diode D24 located on the front of the hashboard? Someone said 40v 1A but doesn't work for me.

Your video would benefit greatly from some editing so people don't have to sit through 26 minutes of rambling to figure this out. Also, when you refer to temperature, it's unclear whether you're referring to environment, PCB, or chip. I would assume environment as I have never seen chip temps for an L3+, D3, or S9 at less than 30 C and with environmental temps in the 40 F range the fans will barely spin. You might want to edit this video for clarity as I'm seeing a guy in the comments talking about his L3 running at 60 C (normal) probably in his chip temp and likely confused by comments about 30 and 40 C.

David Morán molina in a situation like that you're going to have to first unplug the machine and then plug it back in see if that fixes it if that does not fix it you're going to have to reset the Machine by pressing the reset button on the top

David Morán molina first are you sure that your router has not changed your IP address of the Bitcoin miner I would suggest that you use a ping tool to see what is on your network unless you have a static IP setup for your minor it is totally possible that your router has changed the IP address

+David Morán molina most routers will assign a new ip address if reset. you need to use the ping tool to verify the ip address. read the instructions on the s9 located at bitmain.com/ support there is a pdf you can read it also has a link to a ping tool
