Wow, you are the BEST! I followed your instructions and just finished the install. The car now cranks (didn't before) but won't start. I only disconnected the red terminal from the battery, should I have disconnected the negative?

@@Jbpgarage Ok, I'll put the battery on the charger first thing in the morning! The battery is currently at 11.78 volts. I tried to start he car maybe 8 times without it starting, so I wonder if that lowered the voltage? I bought the car maybe 3 months ago and do not know if and when it was replaced. It cranks fast and strong, so I'm wondering if it might be something else?

@@Jbpgarage Oh WOW! Just watched that video and it's SCARRY! I will just surrender the car if it's that serious. I noticed the starter going out about a month ago as it cranked slower and slower, and it eventually stopped cranking. The battery voltage was always at 12v. When I installed the new starter today, I've never heard it so loud and fast so the problem had to be the starter. I'm just wondering when I was moving all the wires and everything, If I might have pulled a wire out of the terminals. I will remove the intake manifold tomorrow and reinstall everything. I do have an engine code P0238. saying the Turbo Boost Sensor A Circuit High. I bought a new turbo solenoid for $27 and it will arrive tomorrow. That check engine light has been on for a week, so I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the car not starting. I hope it's nothing serious. All i did was a starter replacement so hopefully I missed a plug or something. You are awesome for replying! I really appreciate it!

Yeah I found out my starter cable runs all the way in the back trunk connecting to the Terminal Distribution Fuse Junction Plate and that's why my suv wouldn't start. I tested all the positive cables and found out one wasn't hot which was the starter cable.

Best video I've seen this far 💯 I do have one question: When the car wouldn't start, could you still press the brake down while attempting to do so? I have the exact car, different color, and two days ago mine stalled at the gas pump. When I initially got in to start it the pedal went down and it attempted to turn over but didn't crank up. When I attempted the second time I could no longer push the brake down fully and all I hear is an initial ticking sound (I imagine that's the solenoid moving) but I'm getting no turn over from the engine at all. Would help a lot if you had any thoughts.
@Jbpgarage2 жыл бұрын
I believe the brakes turned hard because the car lost power, how old is your battery?

@@Jbpgarage yeah, I got it at an advance auto charging now. It was at 11.8 when I checked it but, I have been attempting to crank it. Put my other car on it and got it back up to 12.2 and attempted to crank again with no luck. The meter at advance said it could use a charge so I'm having that done right now just to positively rule it out. Approx how long was the starter replacement process. I'm not a certified technician but I'm above average, lol

@@yafolksnemjo4267 should take anywhere between 3 to 6 hours. Depending on the mileage of your car, I would replace the intake and DME gasket’s.

@Jbpgarage4 ай бұрын
Nope. I had no power at the motor, if yours is clicking you could just have a bad motor. You can try doing a relearn process and see what happens.

When I jump my car (I thought it was dead) I hear the ignition doing it’s thing, at first I thought it was cranking but not starting, but now i got a second opinion from a friend and when she listened to the engine she said that the engine in fact ISNT CRANKING she says that the sound is coming from the back of the engine near the trans ish area. I’m guessing this is where the starter is at so my question is 1)is the starter bad? 2)is it my flywheel that’s not engaging the starter? (Auto Trans btw)
@Jbpgarage2 жыл бұрын
Could be, depending on the year of your car, I will check the starter relay and make sure you are getting 12 volts at the starter. If so then yes your starter is bad.
