OMG!!! I was just going to order .125 double sided tape for shakers but foam is the way to go. Less messy and cut perfectly. I just started watching you about three months ago. I’ve purchased about 15 dies and am ready to start making stuff. Your items are so beautiful. Thank you.

Love this Erica .... big thumbs up. I found it easier just to adhere the Glitter faux leather to the foam before running it through the die machine, this made it less fiddly for me. It worked on both the big shot and the Gemini. I think because it's spongy, it gets pressed down when passing through the machines, so is not so thick. Makes lovely cuts. I will make a few and set them aside for fast projects. Thanks for always sharing your lovely projects, which are always so fun!
@lisaraper80535 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your response. I was just asking myself “I wonder what the Gemini would do to the foam?” If the added pressure would flatten it out? I too wondered why not adhere them together first? You answered both of my questions. Thank you again!

Thank you so much Erica! I was one of those that asked about your foam, as mine flattens out when I cut it. I will check out the etsy shop. Thank you again! You are so sweet!

First, I’d like to say thank you for this tutorial, it was a big help since I’ve not made a shaker card yet, but really want to. I know I have the stuff to make a shaker card with all straight edges, but I’d really like to make ones like we’ve all seen, your unicorn for example. I went to the link you provided and was going to put an order in when I realized they were charging more than half of what I had wanted to purchase. I’m going to have to go back to the drawing board to find a store that will suit me better. I don’t know if it’s because of living in Alaska they are charging so much, or it’s business as usual for them concerning all states. Foam does not weigh that much, and it’s not that difficult to package it for the mail and still be able to keep it light. I really do appreciate you sharing though, and I hope others can get better deals with the states they live in.

Thanks for your share today. I know 3 years ago but new to me. I just bought the new glitter foam Spellbinder is selling so hope to skip the step of adding glitter to the top of the foam. I'm looking forward to using your tips for the plain foam too. I do have plain as will. I planned on not being able to do intricate dies but you showed it can be done. ONE PASS. So I have both Spellbinder Platinum machines large and P6. And should get similar results. I know machines can vary a wee bit. My two machines vary between them. Anyway the one thing I did take home today that might not be obvious as it was to me is your quick example of using the unicorn die as a shaker card. Of course you would slip in the clear window between the glitter card stock and the foam and if you use glitter foam that's not going to have that ability. So I have a bear shaker card and planned on making a shaker card using the glitter brown from Spellbinders and oh no now I'll have to think about this a few days. Anyway thank you for your great show and tell shares today. Most helpful and will guide me towards success with foam. And also knowing to search for 3ml thick foam in future will be helpful as not everyone tells you this info.

Thank you, so much for sharing your trade secrets. I've tried cutting foam, and it flattens out. Of course, I'm trying the foam from the local craft stores, and it is not 3mm closed cell foam. I can't wait to give this a try. Again, thanks so much!

@@ScrapDiva29 thank you so much for the tutorial. I am afraid to cut foam with my spellbinder because it feels like I’m having to force it. Worried I might break something. I am using the standard plates...and actually the hobby lobby foam to cut out circle dies. That is a thinner foam than what you’re using, but feels like I could break my spellbinder if I do it. Hints?

open Erica, I love this. I use the cheap foam from Micheals 2mm . But I hate that it stretches, I will give this one a try. Also, sometime it does not cut all the way thru and I have to run it thru my machine a second time. Can I ask, have you used this foam with the sizzix big shot? If so, does it cut clean like you demonstrated on this video. Thanks in advance.
