Straining does not do any good if everything you strain goes through the strainer.

Am I missing something, how do you set it, do you rinse it. Like finish the instructions.

ive tryed this using a bucket with water and acrylic color 1. mix paint and water to a smooth even consistency (alcohol speeds up the drying process) 2. soak garments and stir lift it out of bucket periodically to make sure all areas are even 3, the use a hair dryer to blow dry garment 4. I have used a small spray bottle to tint color to the desired color that I wanted (if i wanted a rustic look) make sure the solution is liquid and mixed to the consistency that can be sprayed through the bottle . you can also iron the shirt with low setting use a piece of plain white paper between the iron and the shirt.

Hi Dissent. Is the fabric hard after drying with the acrylic/water mixture?

Does it extract the color or just dilute the paint thickness? I can’t wait to try this!!!

great method!! i am so amazed on how you played with the paint and how effective it is to cover stains on my clothes.. thanks for sharing your knowledge:-)

Okay, Stains are set IN to the material...and can't be covered unless it's the same color. I would have recommended using Synthroid, as that removes just about ALL stains and prepares the fabric for coloring.

Synthroid is a drug. Are you recommending we take drugs first?

LOL...omigosh...did I write THAT??? I meant, Synthrapol ! Wow, talking about subliminal. I just decided Not to take Synthroid, because it is useless. It must have been on my mind at the time. Thanks for pointing that out. Juliana

Hi! I'm hoping to dye a couple of acrylic sweaters, but I don't want the tie-dye effect. If I don't twist the fabric, and/or soak it in alcohol before I start, do you think the color will be more even?? Thanks

Mallory Akiko Nora Miller I think that would be your best bet. I'm not sure how well this will work with acrylic. However, I always encourage experimenting. Good luck. HanieB.

The tshirt is made of cotton, and absorbs the painted dye. Acrylic is made up of a plastic type of material...and absorption is not as strong. The dye might attach itself, but won't be absorbed.

Juliana Leo Yes. That is why I have a process for extracting the acrylic paint which is shown in another video. There are many fabric dyes. That is not what this is all about. It's about art and using what you've got. Thanks for commenting.

Do you know if this method will work on small plastic pieces? I’m trying to paint some buttons but using spray paint and sponge brushes have not turned out how I’d like and i came across this and thought it might be a viable alternative!
@HanieBCreations

No, I don't think this will work at all. Is your paint not sticking to the plastic, or what is happening? Have you seen my method for painting plastic containers, here is the link for prepping plastic before painting kzbin.info/www/bejne/poiyio2hh615Y7M The stores now carry plastic spray paint, and that works pretty good. Ya gotta look to the hardware stores for the kind of materials you'll need to keep the paint on plastic. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

I discovered this whole method by experimentation. I have not experimented with oil paints, however why don't you give it a try by just diluting or playing around with a little bit of paint, Dip dye it and see what becomes of it. I'd be very curious to know the end results. Wont you please share? Good luck!

(I know it’s been 5 years, but it still might help someone) I would imagine you could. Just be sure to paint front and back so it soaks through evenly. Try it on a test swatch first. One lady I saw hung her clothes to dry and the excess fluid flowed down, along with pigment. So along with painting it on, try hanging it up so the colors flow together and form a gradient. TEST SWATCH FIRST.

HanieB.(C.~)reations Thank you! One more question. You said in another video that, if your clothes are stiff add some more alcohol to it and wring it out. Do I need to add more alcohol before I set the color?
@HanieBCreations
@HanieBCreations 6 жыл бұрын
If it's really stiff, than yes add alcohol ONLY in that area of stiffness. If there is only a little stiffness, don't worry about it. After it's washed, it should soften. Some artists actually get paint all over their clothes when they are working. They swear the items aren't stiff, but I like everything real soft. Use your own judgement. If you feel it's too stiff, than work out the paint a little more. Thanks for asking.
