How to disable Stop/Start system permanently on the Nissan Qashqai

⚠I think that according to J11's service manual this will also disable the operation of airbags because with the bonnet "opened" it will enter in workshop mode.

It certainly does work, however. Although the "door open" warning sonar sounds, it switches off after about 1 min. Not entirely sure why you don't leave the switch in place and just unplug the socket (as you have done) and don't plug it back in. Obviously tape up the plug ends to ensure no water ingress and if one is concerned about dangling wires, zip lock them out of the way. As canalfixe stated, if the car has an alarm, it may not be possible if the same switch operates the alarm. As a second idea and I am not entirely sure if the start/stop switch is live on or live off, why cant the switch just be bypassed or better still the function reversed so its permanently off and the switch turns it on.....Any thoughts ? Disabling this function will also prolong battery life since constant start/stops (causing extreme amperage draw) will fatigue the battery quicker, even if the battery is a more expensive start/stop type, battery life will be longer without it. And if one wants to discuss the advantages of saving fuel and CO2 etc, disposal of batteries requires energy and they have toxic waste...;-)

Because the switch is power on when released (bonnet open). As such, if it is left unplugged, the two terminals need to be shorted before waterproofing. :-)

It triggers alarm when the car is locked. (System senses hood is not close properly)

If you do this modification, when you bring the vehicle in for warranty service and the tech does the diagnostics check he will see error codes for the vehicle's security system. When bending this tab out of position you cannot bend it back without breaking it. This part is not cheap to replace. Especially during warranty I would not modify anything on the vehicle. Why not make the habit of simply remembering to press the disable button each time you start the car, as like driving a car with manual headlights, or remembering to use the signal lever before making turns??? With many of the vehicles, when leaving the vehicle there may be beeping sounds outside of the vehicle indicating the front hood is not properly closed.

You don't need to unplug the connector before bending the lip right? You just unplugged it to have a better grip on the bracket to bend?

i dont have alarm and did this, but after a few weeks start stop fault came back anyways. So this is not a sollution iam affraid. I also would like to turn off start stop function permannently but it seems impossible

Hmmm, I don’t have alarm. If you have alarm maybe you should remove the connector. I’m not sure though

Normal, this sensor isn’t for start the car, this sensor will disable the car to shut down when you stops for ex. on the red lights or stop signs

This may be a totally daft question but why would anybody want to permanently disable the stop start function? I just use the manual override where appropriate in slow driving queues for example but use stop start as normal elsewhere.

Rubbish; bonnet open alarm problem. Easier and way safer is use OBD2 Adapter Scanner.
