Hi. This is a video on how to turn off your start-stop feature on your Ford through the vehicle's settings! I hope this helps!

Wildicon19 1 second ago I am still researching this matter. I have discovered the same issue with the feature I turned off, or unchecked being rechecked when I started my vehicle again. I apologize for the misleading commentary, I am not happy that this worked for me for a couple of trips then it gave me a check mark back in the settings. I will update this video soon as I figure out the solution.

Ford service states this setting is for turning the engine off if you leave the car/truck running too long in park (about 30 minutes). I guess this is for people forgetting a running car with kids or in garage.

Auto Engine Off is not to deactivate the start / stop, it is to keep the engine running after you use the remote start function, it has nothing to do with the start / stop system

Thank you, sir. I tried this yesterday and I hope it will stay off once I start the car again. Fingers crossed.
@Wildicon195 жыл бұрын
You are welcome, I hope it works also. However I have gotten in the habit of just turning mine off when I start up my vehicle. Mine seems to turn on as a default. I wish Ford would leave it as an option to have it on or off at the owners discretion.
@alexg20835 жыл бұрын
@@Wildicon19 I tried the dash version turning it off manually as well as with the button and it always resets every time you turn on the car sadly. They really do need a permanent solution to this because I can see older people possibly forgetting this or someone not alert enough to keep remembering to turn it off. I saw online that 2/3 of Europe's cars have this technology now and it's spreading everywhere due to political reasons with carbon emissions reduction. I think it's horrible forcing people to have to deal with this option if they do not wish to deal with it. Thanks anyways for the video.

@@alexg2083 Did someone k ow that it only stops the engine for 1 minute. Also if you have your fan on high it prevents it from disengaging.

Thank you for your input. I appreciate your feedback. Can you upload a video of your vehicles computer controls if you can so I can see the difference between Canadian and American Fords? Thanks in advance. Sorry, this was not able to help. I will do some research on this matter.

Yes the American version does have this! Settings - Advanced settings - Vehicle, then you uncheck auto stop! Just did it on my 2018 F150 and it works! Thank you Wildicon19

This doesn't work. The only real way is to change some internal settings using a scan tool or a laptop with an OBD II adaptor and some free diagnostic softwares. There many tutorials here on how to do this. But keep in mind that this and any other internal tampering could void your warranty. So I wouldn't recommend unless you know what you're doing and always restore values to the original settings before bringing the vehicle in for any type of work done. But the best options remain to either wait until Ford allows the system to be permanently deactivated or simply don't buy a Ford at all.
@Wildicon196 жыл бұрын
Steve Beepster thank you for your input. Yes I figured out that the settings reset after each start cycle. It is a patch that Ford will have to come up with so we can disable this or any other feature through the settings and not having to repeat this procedure each time you start your vehicle.

Just disconnect the sensing wire connector at the battery, watch - 2019 Ford Edge deactivate start stop for free, to show you the connecter. I have been disconnected for 1 year + without any problems. I put my connector in a zip lock bag and wire tied it closed to protect it from getting dirty.

That just does the same thing as pushing the "Auto Start" button! It still resets every time you start the vehicle, and you have to do it EVERY TIME you start! It doesn't disable anything!

Mine is a 2018 model, however when you shut off the car and start it again, it goes back to the default setting. It is not a permanent solution. TBH I just turn it off when I start the car, when I remember.

you can’t shut auto start stop off in the menu. that is for when your car idles for so long then shuts off.

Thank you for the input. I wish Ford would have given the consumer the ability to turn it off permanently if desired.
@davidterry70044 жыл бұрын
I did that, but when you turn the ignition off and then back on, the start stop feature automatically turns back on. So you have to disable it every time you start the vehicle. It's a huge pain and I really hate this feature. It was intended to save gas, but when the vehicle starts back up it takes as much gas to start as is does to idol for 10 minutes. So, why??
@Wildicon194 жыл бұрын
David Terry I am still conducting an experiment on this matter. I have heard that it takes about a 1/4 cup of fuel to idle, and about 3 tablespoons of fuel to start your vehicle. I have been noticing, in the fuel management setting, that when you idle the fuel usage shoots right up to max. This has me stumped as when most vehicles idle, approx 800 to 1200 rpm you would think the engine would sip the fuel. However the engine guzzles the fuel like it was driving at 3000+ rpm. I have noticed this on my wife's Kicks that the fuel is sipped under normal driving conditions, however when at idle the consumption shoots up to max! Still scratching my head about this one. It makes no sense why vehicles use so much fuel at an idle. The research continues...

Not only that it’s bad on the engine because your oil drains to your pan each time and it’s bad on the starter

Saw a report that 2017 / 2018 Ford Edge with start stop are having flywheel ring gear cracks that cost thousands to repair as engine / transmission has to be removed. I am so glad I removed the battery sensing wire on my 2020 Edge to deactivate start stop permanently. It is the only free way to do it. @@tab7388

Disconnect the little black wire that comes off the battery negative. Try it. It permanently disables the annoying auto start/stop "feature" YOU'RE WELCOME
@Wildicon1911 ай бұрын
Does it affect anything else?
@billtaylor29211 ай бұрын
@@Wildicon19 No, not at all. It's a sensor line that gives the auto start/ stop system the accurate battery state. With it disconnected, it won't shut the engine off. Alternator is not affected. Used it 6 months, no problems. Works on all Fords with A.S.S. (auto start / stop) AND most other makes & models with A.S.S

Another VID states to try starting the car a few times when you have a low battery. It disables the kill switch to where if desired your technician must reset the computer (who would want to reset it?). Sometimes other methods lead to problems with other electronics of the car (very undesirable). Better for the car to just push the *#%¥ button.
