Mine just have the spider glued down, some of the AQ subs come with a ring bolted down those are the one that come directly from overseas. If it has no ring it was assembled here in the states due to the fact we have much stronger glue.

try soaking the glued area with acetone or high grade thinners

What if the everything is fine except for the voice coil? Is there any way to get at the coil without wrecking the cone and edge?

MrKylev35 no because everything is glued to the coil/former. You would need an entire recone.
