If you buy a RG34 cleaning kit, you have a hulsenkopfwischer. You can take the top barrel band of with it and you can take out the floorplate. The top part of the stock is the handguard.(that how it translates from the manual.

@USMCM249gunner.... no i did not re-coat the stock. Because the old finish was so thick when i shaved it off the oil from the old finish keeps seeping through the wood giving it a nice finish. I was thinking about getiing a Matt finish varnish just to give it a good seal but i like the way it looks now. Yeh i believe the metal has been reblued this K98 is a russian capture so after the war they reblued all the old german rifles and it has been sitting in storage ever since.

Try pluging the end of the barrel and filling it with a good copper solvent. But do not leave it in to long as it can do damage. I would not leave it in for any longer than 15min. Then just push through as many cotten patches as you can.

@crisandm1016 Im guessing it has never been disassembled. It was probably a tight fit on the timber so the had to use a hammer to get it on. It will be tricky to get it off but I suggest you compress that front spring and try use a hammer to get it off. Without damaging the timber. Good luck I hope that helps.

@WW2AirSofters i dont live in the UK but from what research i have done i think it is possible. You need to get a licence and you need a reason to get the licence i.e deer stalking or sports shooting. Then you would need to find a K98 in the UK. Because the gun laws have been so tuff for so long i dont know how many K98's would be in the UK. But like i said im not sure as i am on the other side of the world but i hope this helps.

@heinswr yeh i have had this problem before i will try to explain... what you have done is released the spring....if you watch my video and stop it at 0:40 now at the bottom of the bolt on the left hand side there are two lugs....now if you were to put a coin in a vice and put it behind the second lug from the bottom and grab the bolt housing and pull with both hands you should feel the spring starting to compress compress....pull as far as you can and twist to your right.

I always have trouble with the barrel bands, what type of pliers are those exactly? They seem to fit perfectly, and I didn't see you pinch the wood or anything. If you could tell me what the style and size of the pliers are, I'd be really grateful. I have some pliers, but none that I think would fit like that.
@Lyrikz7414 жыл бұрын
Popsicle. When you dissassembled the bolt did you make sure the safety was in the upward facing position??? If not, thats your issue. Kiwiwolf, question. Odd question. I have a 1945 spanish mauser. When the bolt is pulled back all the way, it moves side to side a bit. Is that normal or should hte bolt be solid when its pulled back all the way?

+Waffen_MKD I would suggest using a spray on automotive lubricant. One that you can use to help loosen screws and bolts. I would say its just jammed up with dirt or rust maybe? my floor plate has a bit of movement backwards and forwards. SO maybe spray it and try move it as much as you can backwards and forwards till it free's up and try again. I hope this helps

+McClain Schilling depends what you want it for. If it's just hunting then it's probably I bit heavy but you could probably kill an elephant lol. If you want it for collecting and just shooting it's great. The only other problem is depending where you are ammo can be hard to find.
