Thank you for this video!! I needed someone to move a table I bought and the people were asking anywhere from 495 to 1k - after this video, I was able to disassemble and load the truck, with the help of 1 person, all in 2h.

Very well done video......thank you for the clear and concise instructions ......question: my slate screws are covered with a bondo type of filler therefore you can not see the screws....it appears to be a similar material as was used between each of the 3 slate pieces .....in your video the screws were not covered and thus easily accessible for removal.....anyway, the filler has become hard and I can not scratch out the filler with a putty knife .....I tried to put water on it to soften it but that didn't help very much.....should I use a torch to heat up and possibly melt off the filer so I can get to the screws?....your thoughts as to how I can get to my slate screws....thank you
@CrazyLinguiniLegs5 жыл бұрын
Did you ever figure out how to get through that filler to remove those screws?

I have an olhausen table and the slate pieces are connected in the center. Any idea how to take it apart? Wedging screwdriver between the where pieces meet on the side hasn’t done the trick.

Is it necessary to dismantle the 3 slate pieces in order to unscrew the legs from the base? Just wondering if it would be possible to lift the top with the slates in-tact off of the legs, to be able to move it as one piece. And not have to deal with the individual slate pieces, as well as re-covering it! Thanks.

Jack Jensen the slates are 450 pounds each. Good luck carrying

Thanks, but your number is way off. The most authoritative I found was here, which puts an 8' table at 143 lbs per piece. groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/rec.sport.billiard/ep-CEqglER8

Jack Jensen i know, im just trying to rationalize not being able to carry one. :)

The real reason for not moving a 3 pc slate table w/o disassembling it is the creation of "slate ridge". Professional movers like myself run into this quite often. When you move these tables you will be binding slates together with tremendous stress at the seams. Just like plates make mountains, you are making a ridge along the seams that will affect the ball rolling across it. only way to fix it is remove the felt and plain the slate ridge off. Again disassemble it to move it, dont damage your table and break your back. Thanks Stu's Pool Table Movers & Services

Never sand the slate! Irreparable damage. A wide putty knife is what we use to scrape it off. Furthermore, we use Durhams Rock Hard Water Putty rathere than bondo, plaster, or wax. Benn servicing tables for a few years, just throwing in my 2 cents!

If your table is ball return then you sould remove it after you pull out the pocket liners. This does not apply to coin operated tables.
