Today, we'll take apart a small-but-simple pocketknife, the Spyderco Reinhold Rhino, and get a look at Taichung's construction, on a very small scale.

I just like the blade shape
@jbeers12346 жыл бұрын
I don’t particularly like the look/shape, but it’s very light and has great hand feel. It’s also VERY slicey. It takes the spot of “gentlemen’s Dragonfly” in my collection.

I think this is the first time I’ve never seen you fiddle with pivot adjustment.

Is the 1/2 stop pin and corresponding track in the blade used to control where the blade stops closing?
@synthgal10906 жыл бұрын
you figure given the lightweight blade they'd have put this on bearings to allow for the swing shut compression lock action.

I love this

Looks like that half stop pin is to stop the blade in the closed position. Probably a result of trying to prevent the edge from getting too close to the compression lock when closed.

come on, like, would it be like so much more expensive if they pollished the washers and the "tang" of the blade during production?

Crouching tiger, hidden stop pin haha 😂😂😂😂

it kinda bothers me that you didn't clean the remains of the locktite from the lock side liner that goes underneath the scale. i know it doesn't realy matter, but now i know it's there and it's gonna bug me through the review...

Just give me G10 or give me CF, peel-ply is just more expensive with no advantages.
@THEEnfantTerrible6 жыл бұрын
Rodrigo Teresa exactly. I wish knife company would just STOP with the junk CF laminate.

Taichung is in Taiwan. The original Rhino was made in China. I'd be all over this knife if they didn't include the absolutely idiotic hump swell in the handle that almost completely blocks the hole from the lefty side.
@NickShabazz6 жыл бұрын
Spyderco has two factories, both in Taiwan. One labeled "Taiwan", and one "Taichung". That's the difference.
@dooshlerd6 жыл бұрын
I was actually not aware of them having two different factories in Taiwan specifically. Also was not aware of a distinct quality difference between them.

Nick Shabazz I have never seen a spyderco labeled Taiwan. Always Taichung taiwan. What knives are made in this other factory?

They aren’t “honest” about the carbon fibre not being integral on the basis that the inside isn’t lined. They know 99% of their customers don’t disassemble their knives
