it's actually one of my most carried knife...i have the LC200N, it's so light and thin to carry, i have the Chapparral and Urban which are a bit similar but this one is the lightest.

I know this is a year older but I find myself here having recently acquired the LC200N version of the UKPK. If you’d like a slip joint to demonstrate just how quickly things can go south when you take them down I can highly recommend the SOG Terminus slip joint :) I purchased both colour variants and decided I wanted the black scales with the satin liners and blade, leaving the tan liners on the black liners and blade meaning 2 disassembles and re-assemblies. Three pin arrangement with tension coming from liner based spring arms was highly entertaining to put back together

I’ve got a burgundy frn lightweight drop point ukpk, kind of a saber grind, not FFG. Gin1 steel. Not sure you can still get them in Gin1?…

Love this knife, and it's seen plenty of use, Ideal EDC at a ludicrous 1.7oz with the CTS BD1N drop point blade, which is easy to get razor sharp and it hold it's edge well too. Only snag I've had was a was a spinning rear screw, as I rounded the 'D' slot in the FRN handle while trying to remove it. Too much Loctite from the factory, so now I'm super cautious and warm the knife with an hairdryer before removing the screws.

Spyderco actually made a friction folder for a while. They're discontinued, but you can find them on the secondary market occasionally

I have an older ukpk with the same handle configuration but with gin 1 Steel. I was wondering what your opinion was of gin 1 Steel?

I think when that boss seats into the hole in the back spring it aligns it so the blade doesn’t touch the plastic. Classy little knife. I’ve had one for a few years.

I bought one a few years ago (during lockdown) and it inexplicably stopped locking within a few weeks from purchase. I abandoned it but now want to fix it. What size torx bit is that? Any idea what might have happened?

I have the G10/S30v version which has a full metal backspacer and I’m pretty sure it has phosphor bronze washers. A good knife, but it’s far from my favourite and never gets carried.

Can you do (or have you done) a video on what blade play is? It seemed to me when you played with the blade and said there was no blade play that the blade actually did wiggle. I don’t think I really know what blade play is v. what’s acceptable flex.

Good suggestion. Unless you secure the body in a vise, blade play is more about what you can feel than see.

This one definitely doesn’t need to be taken Apart. Took mine apart and put back together no problem but the centering is permanently off no matter how tight or loose I adjust the pivot… only solution would be more solid aftermarket scales … the handle material has too much give

in my case the clip screw can be removed, but both others spin freely in the handle and are absolutely locked to their counterparts on the other side. tried everything in the book to achieve disassembly, but the f**king thing may as well be pinned.
