I was fully on board with the discussion revolving around Andrew Tate because he is a misogynist and says terrible things about women but putting Jordan Peterson in this conversation was really poor journalism and is part of the reason young men are not listening to these types of conversations in the 1st place. You had me at Andrew Tate and lost me at Jordan Peterson.

Peterson was definitely a precursor to Tate. Building a huge fan base outside of traditional media, being the main similarity. Peterson has a lot of strings to his bow but often overstretches himself, with huge amounts of output that is often unnecessary. Tate bends arguments to his point of view, a narrow one. In that respect he is more like Shapiro. I reckon Tate's popularity is his almost wrestling promo type verbal delivery. Where Shapiro will use 500 words Tate will use 20. Neither impress me.

@whatisequality3753

The reason that people like Andrew Tate are getting a voice is because there is literally no one else speaking about male issues. If there is no one else speaking to young men about issues affecting them, then they will listen to whoever hits a cord with them. For example the extreme views of people just like Andrew Tate. Instead of actually speaking about issues affecting men in general, such as reproduction rights, access to children, abuse protection etc. The fact that media channels such as yours do not speak or even acknowledge these issues, leaves a huge gap for people like Andrew Tate and extreme views. Maybe you should use your platform to help speak about male issues that aren't generally acknowledged. Speaking of a Patriarchy is ridiculous when 99% of men of any ages are struggling on multiple levels does not help anyone.
@MeChoonChannel

There are plenty of people speaking on that subject, youtube is close to overrun with them now. My generation (I'm in my 30s) didn't have anyone speaking about male issues, we had parents who cared about actually bringing us up with morals instead. 99% of any age are not struggling on multiple levels. That's absolute tripe.

He does, he also has some awful takes. If you have a gullible audience, even 5% of what you say being nasty and vindictive towards women has a huge influence. He's a grifter, that's how a grift works. He has to draw people in with a lot of agreeable points before ripping them off for a degree in "pimping hoes". If people think that he is instilling good values in boys (I say boys intentionally as men don't fall for his nonsense) then society is finished.

I think this is a good topic for otb to cover and important for parents who might not be in the youtube/twitter realm but poorly executed. The guests can barely structure a meaningful sentence. Constantly using "like" as a filler and tapering off without finishing a point. They describe the topic as "Peterson things" and tate as a "Plonker" without being able to articulate why. I definitely think if Newstalk covered a show on this topic then I would be very interested to listen to it bit sadly this resembled a Junior Cert discussion.

Too right. . Jaysus i never heard Tate advocate for the rape of women....as much of an despicable individual he is. That rant they played was completely childish but he does start it with " if a women came at me with a MACHETE!!!". They say "Lets have a balanced debate" while all four of them say the same thing (with an ample amount name calling). . Presumably at the request of their bosses. . Peterson would turn the four of them inside - out in any debate. Stick to the sport lads , thanks.

Life is complicated, we all agree on that. But putting Peterson in the same bracket as Tate is symptomatic of our 'binary' approach to mainstream narrative and lazy journalism. Red V Blue. Rangers V Celtic. You're appalled by Peterson V you're pumped by Greta Thunberg. Is there no middle ground or acceptance of some parts of what the other might say?... to try and reach some meaningful understanding? But 'death metal music is grand' and 'Eminem is grand' - do you wanna listen to some of those lyrics?
