And they fill back up in less than two seasons. The sedum autumn joy is definitely a plant to only buy once and fill your garden with it forever. Happy gardening.

It’s a great plant. Very low maintenance and it barely needs watering once it’s established.

Absolutely. They grow so easily and barely require any care once established.

Thanks so much for demonstrating this Germaine. This is something I need to do with my sedums, Lillies, peonies and rhubarb but I am scared I will kill them! I am going to try with the sedums this weekend, so you said they are pretty sturdy, then I will do the rest in the spring.

The little buds on the sedum should be good to go come spring, I will add to a layer of mulch on the flower before the first snow bed for extra precautions. But if you are worried about the frost, wait until spring to transplant🙂

@@theswissgardenvlog3189 yes, it gets so cold here. But then in spring they just shoot up so fast. So if they have little shoots, it’s okay to still divide, right. I’m going to put the on my spring to do list! They really need to be done.

Hi Kellie, thanks for checking out my channel. I’m in Aargau but I consider Zurich my hometown because I spent most of my youth there. It’s been very challenging finding time to garden lately but I will get back to making videos as soon as I can. Would love to know your space is like and the kind of plants you like growing. Wishing you a great rest of the season💚

@@theswissgardenvlog3189 Hi! I transitioned away from edibles a couple of years ago when the slugs decided they wanted to devour my entire plot! So now I focus mainly on flowers, and I'm loving the reward fresh cut stems give me. Plus, I can't compete with grocery stores in terms of fruits and veggies. My space is small so I have to prioritize. I love dahlias (although the snails and slugs do too so it's a constant battle!), ranunculus, hydrangeas, roses, rudbeckia, astilbe, zinnia, sunflowers, cannas, hosts, cosmos. I just love plants! I do have strawberries and rhubarb though. How do you water your garden? Do you use a drip system? I'm using the Gardena system and really like it.

Could you cut the stems back in the summer before they get so tall?
@theswissgardenvlog3189
@theswissgardenvlog3189 5 ай бұрын
If you cut down the new growth there will be no stems for the sedum to bloom on. And this particular variety is at its normal height here. By dividing the sedum autumn joy it late fall/ early spring, it will stay compact and stand straight when it’s blooming.

Shouldn't you wait until the plant grows dormant to do this? That's usual for moving or removing any plant, rather than while they're still in blooming cycle.

Hi there, the sedum autumn joy did beautifully this season, in the new spot I planted it last fall. Plants don’t mind being moved so long as they receive what they need to establish themselves in the new place. Thanks for watching💚
