Early Sablon Audio cables were using Oyaide 102ssc hook up wire 16awg (available in japanese market only). Transparent Audio orders raw cables from one factory in US, where 1m of Reference XL digital costs around 30usd (MOQ 1000ft). Entreq from Sweden in "Challenger" power cord used 5x1.5mm2 control cable from SAB and Muckethaupt&Nusselt manufacturers. There are tons of examples like this.

I use LAN cables, can be configured from single pair to multiple braided. If it works at gigabit ranges , it should work in kHz ranges too

Audioquest used 8 conductors in the Well speaker cable. Sold for 18,000. I don't know if there different gauges like there new sota Dragons which have 2 silvers per pos and 4 silvers per neg side. Not that I can afford such items but I'd image folks who can haven't any complaints!

Brass connectors 30% conductive, that's where the loss occurs. Thus f the connectors, extend the board wire with a short silver wire out then solder connect speaker wires. It'll match or beat whatever exotic speaker wires in thousands. IACS conductivity standard rules.

I’m not sure that a solder connection is always better than connectors. Of course one needs to avoid brass connectors but there are plenty of choices for connectors made of high quality pure copper or silver, with different plating options. Directly solder the cables is also way too impractical. I did it for the external crossovers not to buy 16 expensive binding posts, but I can tell you that simply movin around the speakers is too complicated

Silver 6% solder cheap homedepot at least it'll contain silver. Exotic connectors cost hundreds when added up. Tellurium copper connectors is only viable, rest are faked thin plating. Where's the real silver connectors I have yet to see one that doesn't cost hundred each.

@@wric01 I use ramm audio spades for speaker cables that are pure copper rhodium plated and are not crazy expensive. Anyway if we are talking about speaker cables there aren’t too many to buy unless you have external crossovers like me. For me it is worth it for the practical reasons to have connectors instead of soldered cables, but the amount of binding posts that I’d have to buy prevents me from doing it (quality binding posts are way more expensive than connectors and I need too many of them)

Materials and money for the guy hired to do it, still makes it come to around 1000 USD to make this nowadays. Plus you then need a machine that can do many of these things so it all ends up looking the same and saving a lot of time. And that machine would probably cost at least 100k USD. Then there is the building/rent/business expenses plus a full staff doing the rest. So no I don´t think that it is expensive. I agree with Mickey, that is also what I would do. Plus solidcore that thick usually won´t sound that good, many times it has blind spots in the sound, meaning that you need a lot of smaller ones coming together to give a more 3d type of sound, instead of a locked cool HiFi mode of sound. I would make it 0.2mm times 50-100 per plus and minus, that would make it a lot more natural and complete in imagining. I am really surprised that they did not turn the silver tubes clockwise. When you do that, it usually makes the sound jump and lack focus, together with leaking energy, so you really need a gigantic mass of metal to keep the signal going, without noticing the loss of energy.

Furniture stores all over the place but in essence mafia laundering money, If it's a real store, then it is usually 3:1 if it is import from Italy. I once wrote about timeshare fin model. Presentation starts at $16k and reaching $30k not uncommon (prices from early 90s, now it is probably much higher). and you only need to pay the Brain of the operation in Britain $4k for each sale. I always had a feeling hifi is in the same boat. I have a feeling that Robert found a golden egg in a timeshare-like operation. I am speculating that he gets exclusives from brands eager to sell/sell/sell. exclusive = monopolist. then screwing under big time. basically, he sells in timeshare-like fashion and doesn't move his fat arse from his mansion.

A short run to a 100dB , 8 ohm speaker would work mostly fine in 18 gauge . But the longer the cable , the lower the speaker sensitivity , the larger the wire must be . Bass frequencies and dynamic impact suffer most from small gauge wire . Solo vocals on a pair of Klipschorns would be good .

Bogdan Petrescu - according to 6Moons - makes speakers and tube amps in a small town in Ohio. The description of the review units was 'ultra high end' and everything appears to be made to order. Bogdan Audio no longer sells cables but we can assume that he sees his products in the Nordost stratosphere vs Mogami. Mikey is restating a lot of what Danny Ritchie said a couple years back - I guess it comes down to whether a dealer will let you try their cables in your own rig. Danny's power cable, fwiw, was deemed unusable by ASR but that's a can of worms for another day.

I guess Its the same with all Hi Fi equipment, a good demonstrable example being that of solid state Amplifiers, most parts that go into an amplifier are relatively inexpensive but what you are paying for is the thought in someone's head i.e. the design, build or manufacture (I differentiate hand made as build), marketing, packaging and shipping. Although the principles are simple, most people cannot design an amplifier, so you pay for the privilege of someone putting those mostly inexpensive components safely and coherently in a box of vastly varying quality, in order to make it more than the sum of its parts. Very often that cost is exponentially more than the cost of the materials....often that small word "marketing" hides all the genius and the evil....and so it goes.... our hobby/ way of life is a never ending journey of pain, inter-spaced with precious fleeting moments of insight and ecstasy.

Only you can decide, but look at photos of the inside of a Rowland amp to the inside of even the most inexpensive Boulder amp and determine whether that's something important to you; some may even prefer Rowland's designs to Boulder's modular approach.
