If you look at your tape markings, you'll notice that even though the full throttle position is at the same tape marking, the tape marking for the neutral position is very different making the total throw distance much shorter. I'm going to give this a try. Not because I want a stupidly short throttle throw, but because my bike currently requires more than a quarter turn and my wrist cannot move it through the full range necessary. Thanks for the video.

Hope it works for you, be careful with this mod, make sure the strip is glued on securely.
@dirgharajshrestha2 жыл бұрын
I've done it on 150cc dual sport. But not the zip ties, used a plumbing pipe, for bigger difference. Works even better.
@thesighbored2 жыл бұрын
Yup the concept is the same just widen the diameter for shorter cable travel to open/close.
@dirgharajshrestha2 жыл бұрын
@@thesighboredYeah exactly! I used the cable ties for previous bike. This time I wanted a bit more aggressive. It's equivalent to 4 cable ties. 🤘👊🇳🇵

@kelvinlee62268 жыл бұрын
Nice. I think what you did basically increase the diameter and remove all the slack (free play) in the cable, so increase the respond. Might not be too obvious on your ZX but I'm riding a 17 year old 400cc bike and I think it'll give mine a big change. Thanks for the idea.
@thesighbored8 жыл бұрын
No it was magic wizardry hocus-pocus.. LoL. Just kidding.. Yeah the basic idea is to increase the diameter so that less movement gives more cable travel. Just make sure the clearance is good and the add-on cures well so that no snagging occurs.
@eldiablo41438 жыл бұрын
I agree with dinxsy, there's no point having a fancy ZX6R that you cannot ride anymore because you were not wearing the proper gear. Get Suited and Booted your body will thank you for it ,no matter how hot it is, better sweating ,than skin worn to the bone ride safe

thanks for the video man..did you have to adjust youe idle screw (in order to compensate for the slightly extra power) or was it idling [over all] the same?
@thesighbored4 жыл бұрын
Overall I did not have to adjust the idle.. This mod just makes the twist shorter, yes the cable gets a little tight but I didn't have to mess with the idle..

What mirror? Those round ones? They give no rear visibility, just decorative. I use it to check if I'm too close to the bike beside me when I'm reverse parking the bike in the bike park. LoL.

@carlmatischok24697 жыл бұрын
eye is the point you could but do the exactly the same as adjusting the screws on your throttle cable all your doing is keeping your main jet open as there no free play in the throttle
@thesighbored7 жыл бұрын
The rate of twisting the throttle is not affected by adjusting the cable tension, only no free play, with a larger diameter the rate where the throttle is opened is increased, thus less wrist moment to open the throttle quicker.
@carlmatischok24697 жыл бұрын
but without having the free play your throttles constantly open
@carlmatischok24697 жыл бұрын
it's almost holding your throttle partially open and blipping it from 1/4 throttle instead of from 0 trottle and the range of move ment is decressased but only affective if you have free play
@thesighbored7 жыл бұрын
No free play in your throttle is dangerous, you can accidentally accelerate or unable to stop properly. Fast throttle and no throttle free play are not the same in my opinion.

@thesighbored9 жыл бұрын
It was nice to do it by myself, still have self-trust issues though. For oil change I don't save anything by doing it myself, the shop does it without labor charge, only pay for the parts. Plus I don't have the proper tools, not to mention where to dump the used/old oil safely.

why is the sweaty band covering the brake fluid can?
@thesighbored8 жыл бұрын
It's actually a hair scrounge / band.. Don't want the plastic to fade and crack under the hot sun when parked out in the open. Some also say it's to prevent any brake fluid leak/drip from contacting the motorcycle part/body as it is corrosive and damaging.
@JunkieVirus8 жыл бұрын
no that's actually not at all. very logic. we in the netherland have mostly rain :P not so much sun. but still i'm gonna do this now, when i get mij z800. thanks for the tips!

Is LANE SPLITTING illegal and unsafe?
@thesighbored7 жыл бұрын
Depending on your country's laws, some places is legal, some places it is not. I feel lane splitting is much safer for the rider than not splitting. When you are not splitting lanes it is easy to get rammed into by vehicles behind you because they are too busy playing on their mobile phones and did not "see" you in front of them. Lane splitting also reduces traffic congestion as bikes do not occupy the lane and move on faster than cars. Of course there are dangers but the pro of splitting outweighs the cons anytime.

Bro what if i make the cable tie two layers? to get a bigger diameter obviously hehe. If there a possibility that im gonna fckup? Have you tried?
@thesighbored8 жыл бұрын
Yes it is possible to put two layers, just make sure there is enough clearance in your throttle housing so that it doesn't get snagged. I didn't do it because one was enough for me. The throttle will be too abrupt for street use I believe.

So after all that, the throttle barely moved, which would barely affect how it feels, what a waste of time lol.
@thesighbored4 жыл бұрын
If you wanted the travel even shorter just add more, but if you are street riding it will be hard to control your throttle as little movement will result in huge throttle.

Compared to buying a fast throttle off the shelf? I guess it's the same. It's just fast throttle anyway.
@tiki_riot6 жыл бұрын
No as in, is it legal to superglue a piece of plastic onto a bike throttle 😂 I feel like this would be highly illegal in the UK
@thesighbored6 жыл бұрын
What the cops don't know can't tell anyway.. The bigger concern is for the biker, to make sure it's stuck on properly otherwise you could get the throttle stuck. Even on stock throttle there's chances of that happening too.
@dsmdallas24668 жыл бұрын
this did nothing!!!! simply adjust cable slack properly. lmao

DSM Dallas wrong. It's the same effect as changing a sprocket. The diameter is changed, so it takes less rotation to pull the cable the same distance.
