I wish hairdressers would stop hating on women who want to do their own hair.... we know we are not professionals but not everyone can afford to spend hundreds of dollars at a salon. Plus I have horror stories of a salon damaging my hair! (All my hair fell out) I started cutting and coloring my own hair and guess what, I get tons of compliments. I learn what to do and not to do by watching videos like this. So thanks girl!!!! I want to do my roots and this video gave me a better idea on how to do em.

Ya same i remember hair dresser saying to me I can’t believe your not having a heart attack right now watching my hair fall down the apron as she brushed it omg didn’t really know what to think at the time, then I got home and the whole crown of my hair was cropped off from her bleach job :( I’ve never had that happen using olaplex and doing it myself so I think we’re good haha my hair still on my head I’m good ;)

Shelb Cha you're so rite I just had to chop 14 inches off because a hair salon over process my hair and turned it to like rubber bands even after olaplex treatments the lady fried my hair I will do it at home from now on

Same here! Twice I went in asking for platinum....Got nasty orange and the hairdresser gave me nuff attitude when I asked her to fix it for me. She bleached me 4 times toned me twice and totally destroyed my hair. That was the head stylist at a very expensive salon. Gutted. If I could find a stylist I trust I would put myself in their hands but I'm not going through that again and paying through the nose. I use olaplex and have dark hair but honestly it doesn't take 40 to a 30 it can just take longer to process with olaplex one in if you add too much. Please be careful with your hair overlap next time you bleach it it is looking good I want you to keep it that way! Much love xxx

You're right. I have dirty blonde and light brown hair and they always use 30 vol and make my hair orange. I always have to go get 40 v and toner to fix their mistake. I had one want to use 20 which does nothing. With 40v i dont even really need bleach i just use 40 with a blonde color and it works beautifully

I’m not licensed anymore, but yes she did an amazing job. I’m scared to do my own roots and I’m educated on how to do it lol. If you can do it, DO IT. A lot of people don’t have money or time to go to professionals, so we should still encourage others to look their best, even if we don’t preform the service. If you REALLY enjoy doing hair, I mean really love it, you shouldn’t hate on others if they choose to DIY. 💕

I’m a licensed cosmetologist and you did a really good job, just make sure that you take a little smaller sections and first apply it a quarter of an inch away from the scalp at first because the heat from your head will process the hair closest to the scalp faster & it can turn out uneven. After you have applied it all over (a quarter of an inch away from the scalp) then go back and apply it to the scalp. Just a little FYI. And of course make sure that you DO NOT overlap the bleach on the already bleached part of the hair-you will melt your shit off quick or make it feel like cotton. I would coat the already processed part with conditioner to protect before anything..

1 & 2 is part of the process.. they work together. then #3 is the one u use to maintain once a month I think.. I’ve never used number 3 but they sell it on amazon. I probably should’ve bought #3 keep it even healthier bleach does a lot to your hair ;)

I've paid hundreds and hundreds of dollars trying to get my hair this blonde by a hair stylist. They always use 20 vol and my hair turns out brassy. Good job on doing it yourself. Wish I was brave enough lol
@BeautyBeatzByLisa37 жыл бұрын
exactly I hate coming out of the salon brassy. you can still do the 20v way you just might have to do it a couple times that's all. also the best thing for me I found was after bleaching instead of toning I put a blonde dye instead if you like platinum you want like colour #11 or more. I used to use 10 and it was more of a golden blonde which was fine too but I love platinum better :) and I maintain the platinum with Fanola no yellow shampoo once a week or less depending how yellow it goes. sometimes I leave it in longer and it turns a bit blue but its cool I like that and it washes out :) bonus thanks for watching.

BeautyBeatzByLisa Hey!! I love the platinum blonde!! I, too, had a VERY, VERY BAD experience with a SO called "professional stylist" bleaching my hair and I didn't even get the shade of blonde I wanted. Also, it was about 3, maybe 4 weeks, before my wedding!!! I then had to do ALOT of deep conditioning/repair treatments to my hair for it to look half way decent for my wedding. I just want to make sure I read your comment right. So, did you bleach your roots 2 times with 40 developer and then instead, of using a toner, you used a dye on your roots (that I'm guessing you eventually pulled thru to the ends of your hair to refresh the color) making it the final platinum blonde color you got in the end?? I'm trying to get my hair the platinum blonde that you had so that the fashion colors that I want to dye my hair with will be more vibrant. Right now my hair is a more warmer light brassy blonde shade color much like the shade of blonde that shows up once your video stops that also shows your dark roots prior to you bleaching your roots. Hopefully, you see what I'm talking about. I LOVE Guy Tang videos!!! Thx for the video!! Don't worry about the haters they must not have anything better to do and maybe even jealous that you can do your own hair and not pay out the A$$ going to some so called "professional stylist," who knows nothing about your hair but because they went to cosmetology school they know what's best for your hair!! I love your personality and your beautiful!! Thx again for the video!!!

For me I had to bleach twice but you might not have too if it’s already brassy just make sure you put a good amount of dye on I think that was my problem I was putting thin coats I’ve never taken a course just trial and error ;) and yes I put a dye on top instead of toner what worked for me. I can damage your hair so please be careful I was using olaplex so I was confident but if not I probably wouldn’t of done it..be careful though I heard there are a lot of fake olaplex out there so please make sure it’s real.

I do my own hair and I understand the risk by doing my own. Hairdressers need to understand that they fail sometimes too. I have had my hair damaged or ruined more times when I've paid to have it done then when I do my own. At least if I ruin my own hair I only have me to blame and I am not out big cash. I am not bashing hairdressers because most know their stuff but, 9 times out of 10 I don't get what I want when I go in because they aren't in my head and know what I want. If you are not a professional (to anyone that does or is going to do their own hair) RESEARCH your arse off. Don't go by the first couple things you read. Hair grows back but you don't want to damage your hair if, just by spending some time researching, keeps you from that. And don't just go by one or two youtube videos either. Everyones hair is different and you need to be sure you know what you are doing. @BeautyBeatzByLisa turned out good girl.

I been bleaching my hair at home forever....not a trained professional. But I've killed it more then once and learned. If a 40v works for her, she knows it. All that matters is that she likes it. 😊 For a newbie with dark hair...I suggest 30v and no more, but experiment and don't be surprised if you kill your hair once or twice.....you have to be ready for the consequences if you don't honestly know what you're doing. My two cents.....nice vid btw!
@vanessita41389 ай бұрын
Indeed. I fully know what Im getting my self into when i signed my own contract 😂 In the past I'd use 30v until my aunt who has always been an artificial blondie told me she uses 40v so I decided to give it a shot and boom. Quicker lift. I have to prepare ahead of time. Nothing can go wrong and i have to work very quickly. Im very allergic to bleach. But i love blonde🥺 this came out gorgeous. Im wondering if the dye used here is a HL color? I always heard 10 v developer is best for depositing hair color.

The color turned out really pretty! I would 100% recommend seeing a hairstylist to do root touch ups in the future. Overlapping the bleach on previously lightened hair can cause some serious damage. It could snap at the roots and leave you with super short tuffs of hair! I'm a hairstylist and I wouldn't even do a root touch up on myself because I can't see the back well enough!

Great tip: before bleaching your hair coat it in olive oil. :) let it soak in for awhile, blot it dry a bit, then just go over it with the bleach. Creates a protective layer between hair and bleach for minimal damage. I used this technique to remove the neon blue green from my hair. Used 40 Volume developer (had to to remove the color) and my hair was already damaged but there was almost no extra damage. Now I’ve got a nice platinum blonde :)

Great DIY result! Honestly! And without offending, I'd love to provide a few DIY/FYI tips for u & anyone else watching. 40vol is a bit strong, but ur roots are dark. Maybe even a 30 just in front & top. That way it saves on some damage & possible over-lifting while working in the blind areas in the back by yourself. Also super helpful..... *first off, u can use the color brush handle to part hair into four. Right down the center front to back, & crossing at about the top of crown, down the sides to right where the top front of ur ear meets the hairline. Then continue to use the handle to slice partings as u go, starting at the top of the back parts. This will prevent from missing any hair or spotting, & makes for even distribution :-) *Start at back & crown first. Its much denser & coarser & takes longer to process. U can easily over process the front & top hair while working in the back. The top & front lightens much much faster & is more fragile. *Bleach oxidizes for 45-60 min (it's the peroxide. Actually, regular peroxide won't work if the bottles left open for the same amt of time!). It will no longer lift after that, but it WILL damage. *If u need to stop the lifting or processing, simply apply conditioner! Can even put some in a spray bottle for convenience. This is a good tip if it's taking a while to apply, u can condition where u started for the healthiest result. To blend away the demarcation lines from repeated processing at root to mid stand to end, do what's called a shampoo cap (good for toning too); *during the last 5-7 minutes of processing, simply mix a bit of bleach &/or toner w shampoo & apply to the entire head of hair. *Be sure to always rinse in the coolest water tolerable. Oh, & yes to previous comments; u don't put bleach directly to scalp, leave about an 1/8in. Reason being, bleach expands (kinda like foam). So it will already cover to the scalp on its own. But if it has no where to expand to, it gets 1warmer, 2thicker & 3stays wetter right at the root. And "virgin" hair already lifts faster & is susceptible to damage. All those things contribute to lifting power & speed of processing. Hence, girls with hot white roots, & not the good kind. They also break easier w styling, brushing & ponytails. Also, u get those awful baby's that stick straight out & never behave w product. Hope this helps y'all. Again, great result for DIY :-)

I have had my very dark hair bleached blonde for 2 plays I was in. The first time they used 30 volume peroxide and even after bleaching it through twice it was still a bit orange. The second time they used 40 volume and still it took more than one application to take out the orange. For my touch up, knowing that my hair was resistant to bleach, they used the equivalent of 60 volume peroxide, some sort of enzyme bleaching stuff. It came out fine, no breakage, each time.

It took me a long time to realise a lot of girls might have gone to school but they don’t apply the right principles because they think they know better and they have zero common sense that’s how I can walk away with snapped hair, orange roots, white banding and ash ends... yet I can do it right myself at home because I have common sense I learnt how bleach and developer works and what do you know.. perfect blonde at home.

the effect is very nice, I did it a couple of times in my life, but you've got much more thick hair. My hair just after bleaching and toning is quite OK, but after 2 weeks it breaks, it is very damaged and I always need to cut it. I love platinum, but for now I preffer semi-perm purple :) less damaging :)

Great video! I do the same thing to get platinum blonde. My virgin haircolor is a level 4 or 5. I also do WITH Olaplex #1. When all done, I also apply Olaplex #2 carefully onto the wet roots & comb thru, cover and leave in for 3 hours. Then my hair acts strong and happy. 🙂👱♀️

Wow👍Excellent job😲!!!! Absolutely Gorgeous 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 I have jet black hair, tried going for this color. Went orange red n yellow, then bleached again! It was too yellow, so used Manic panic ultra violet and it not only darkened but turned tips deep purple!!! All in 3 days. Now trying the dish washing liquid, lemons and conditioning to get the purple out. If it turns out wrong? Just dying it black and leaving it alone 😫 I had to cut an inch off all over due to brittle ends! But thanks for showing how you fixed the roots. I kind of liked the dark roots showing, but the end result is Fantastic!!!! ⚘⚘⚘⚘

I love the outcome and you're so brave with the overlap and the 30 and 40 volume... I must say, don't try this at home. I'm not a professional but every hair is different. What worked for her may not work for you. So much more goes into it, like the health of her hair and although it looked dark it may not be a level 1. I'm just adding my warnings because I've pulled stunts and fried mine. The real mvp in this video is the olaplex no.1 if you don't have that or pretreat your hair with something like it or K18 then don't do it. She wasn't kidding when she referred to olaplex as insurance. Overall love the platinum and thanks for sharing. ❤

You are lovely and there is nothing wrong with bleaching your own hair but experience has taught me you really need to do your research. Beautiful and super bad ass chick !!!! That was brave and you did excellent. I have a couple questions tho if you could please answer them ??..???? The product u added in at the end for I guess protection against breakage / damage ECT. What is the price on that run around about at sallays if they carry it ? And what do i ask for it by name ? Also at the very end of your video u applied color ( which turned purple) was that a toner,base color? And what do i ask for by name on that you used ? It would help me out tremendously I do know about the bleach powder and the 40 volume I've been doing my hair for a very long time I just feel like with the last step of mixing and the last step of finalizing the result I need to try out on my own hair . ..it may make the world a different hope to hear back& by the way your amazing your hair is beautiful don't let anyone tell you otherwise they're just jealous♡ keep doing what you love and what makes YOU feel sexy ! +Meggan Icenhour loved reading your message made me smile that ending tho!! So it's called OLAPLEX bought it on amazon my friend has a beautician card so I'm not sure if u will need one to buy it... And at the end the color was the exact same one as first one but for some reason it was purple once mixed last time it wasn't might've been an old bottle or vice versa..the colour is called super light pearl blonde at drug store brand inebrya (ice cream) 11/2. No toner. But once I see my hair get a yellow ish I add Fanola's no yellow purple shampoo it's awesome give a nice blue tone but washes out making your hair even whiter and healthier looking... I bought that on amazon too! Thanks for your comment xo more videos to come stay tuned

So yesterday I bleached my previously bleached hairthat did not turn out as white as it should have. This time I left it on for an hour it was 40 plus a L'Oreal bleach packet plus a bonder and I put too much of the bonder in and then I looked at a KZbin video and I noticed I could have gotten away with 1/3 of that little bottle but other than that my hair turned out pretty white and soft, then I put a fancy full rinse on it instead of a toner because my hair tends to break off after an hour of bleaching if I use a toner. I used silver lining because I'm in my seventies and it's watered down a little because it is a kind of dark but it's a beautiful color. You could try white minx.

@BeautyBeatzByLisa36 жыл бұрын
Olaplex doesn’t make it yellow it just helps protect the hair so it doesn’t damage as much I find it made a huge differnce. The trick for yellow is all in the bleach u need a good bleach I’ve tried a cheap one and it was super orange. So look for a bleach that says it lifts up to 7 levels. I use L’Oréal quick blue bleach, but there is also goldwell and redken flash that’s really good I’ve never tried them but hear good things. Good luck and be careful bleach is very bad for your hair.

I was all nervous about the 40 developer but I was like “ok the olaplex should help”. Then she puts a Walmart bag on it and said “wait 40 mins” and I was like eeeekkkk. She’s cute and it worked for her. I have thin hair so that would have given me a chemical haircut!!! Lol.
