Thank Goodness I found a southerner to teach me this! Love ya girl! THANK YOU! & congrats on your new baby! I so wish you lived next door because I so need a friend to do this with! But thanks for posting and I am about to take a deep breath and start my 1st design...I’ll let ya know how it goes. I used to make friendship brace,etc in middle school doing a lot of these techniques with colored thread you can get it anywhere and since back then there was no hobby lobby or Michaels near us we got it at Walmart which was 45 mins away. Yep back then there were no premise bracelets like you see in stores all over now we made them ourselves and many of the same techniques were used so hopefully that will come back to e and help me as I want to make one for my niece and one for my mama as well as myself and if I can figure out a way to get some deer antlers without my family figuring out why I want them I’ll make one using them as a rod so y’all wish me luck🍀oh as a side note mama just finished having her master suite redone so she had some of those mobile clothing carts she had to live in the dining room while she was getting her room dine so she had gotten them from Lowe’s I think to hang her clothes on while they were doing the work but then after moving back in she just had them I grabbed one and I think it’ll me perfect as a place to knot just an idea for any like me who are needing somewhere to create these wall hangings and macrame pieces (she thinks I’m using it for my clothes) some will collapse to like 3ft high when not in use or for an extra pants hanging space but the one I got is not it’s tall but sturdier the collapsible one is just a bit too flimsy for me. Hope this helps others like y’all have been so wonderful to help me!

I'm in the process of making this.... for the 3 cords on the either end, I would recommend 10' for all but the middle cords. The middle cords are used as the "traveling cords" and can be 8' since the other cords do the wrapping around, but the others should definitely be longer ... I just realized I am running out and need to re-cut and re-do that portion. Other than that, great instructions ... Thank you for posting this piece - so pretty and fun to make!

I just made this piece! Well I’m almost done, I’m at the untwining part that takes forever! This was my first ever macrame project. Now I’ve known how to do the knots forever, since I was a child, I taught myself making friendship bracelets & what not as a kid, I was very into that kind of thing and Always have been & so I decided to try it via macrame! I bought the exact same craft cord you have in this video and did it exactly how you showed here. I cut my lengths a little longer than you said to just in case & I actually ended up just having barely enough for some parts of it. I had to kind of tweak it a little to make it work. But nevertheless, I managed! & I’ll take pics once it’s completed & tag you on insta since you were the inspiration behind it & it was your pattern! I love it! Thank you for your tutorials! They’re great! You’re amazing!

I hope you are feeling better! You inspired me to make one of these myself. I used bulky yarn ($4 for one skein) and a $1.25 dowel I stained with watercolor paint I already had. I mixed very small amounts of black with a red-brown to get a realistic but dark wood color. Some people suggest diluting the paint in white vinegar for better absorption but water worked fine for me. Because the dowel is obviously round, the paint stain will want to bead up as it dries. I rotated the dowel every so often and used a sponge brush to sweep it evenly across and absorb excess paint. In some places it stained darker than others, which made it look more realistic than Id expected. This technique could be used to stain wood brighter fun colors too.
@victoriagordon79137 жыл бұрын
In retrospect, if you wanted to do it similarly as cheap as possible while factoring in all supplies, you could get a $1 pack of sponge brushes and a $1 tube of acrylic paint to mix with water and that will put you at $7.25 or possibly less if you use a thinner dowel.

Love your tutortial, and your personality!! This will be the first piece I am going to attempt to attempt. Question though, when working with really long strands how do you keep them from getting tangled up? I find myself getting impatient working with long strands because they get tangled and take forever to pull through. Any tips or advice you could give me would be much appreciated.

Hi Chelsea, I love watching you and I was the first to watch your live show in the car, but couldn't reply. Anyway, I have made two macrame pieces so far, one the diy wall hanging you taught and the second a wedding backdrop for my daughters wedding. I was very interested in the types of cording and rope you taught about and am on my third experiment. I have used 5 millimeter 3 ply, 5 mm cord (very soft) and now 3 mm 3 ply. I love the feel of this, but when I am making the diamond on the top of the macrme out of square knots and then use the clove hitch, it seems to bind the macrame. It needs to be tight to be together. is this typical of 3mm
