Thanks so much for suggesting, I could do an enfleurage too, but sadly their are not a lot of fragrant flowers around me, this could be a possibility to showcase though.

This rocks!!! I'm very interested in playing with tincturing and building accords. I'm close to starting to gather materials. I've already visited your Etsy store and will be picking up some of the wonderful things you have there. Thank you Brandon for featuring again this brand and this tutorial. Bravo. I can't tell you how grateful I am for this perfectly timed content. ✌️

@@brenlynch4811 Yes Saffron Musk Imperial sold out pretty quick. He really the case with my musk attars, they are difficult and time consuming to make so jiat occasionally pop up. Perhaps the sample pack is a good place to start, as it contains 10 samples, small but easy to get acquainted with thr style of scents I make.

Great video, after the tincture has been put together, I assume the oil will separate from the alcohol? Or is the tincture used as it is ? Thanks
@TherapeuticFragrance

I'm sure Abdullah will be by for a better answer but for the ones I have I have noticed this. Always easy to give it a shake it mixes super quick in tincture.

Will it make a difference from a certain time with this material? That is, will a 5-year-old macerated tincture be better than a 3-year-old for example? Or from a certain time ethanol and Santal oil will absorb the entire scent of ambergris in the bottle and there will be no difference?
@TherapeuticFragrance
@TherapeuticFragrance 3 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. My answer (and I will let Abdullah have his better one) would be to get the material in tincture or maceration as quick as possible as it only ages better in either. And there is no point in waiting. I have heard of twenty year old Musk product being just something that makes the composition out of this world.
@dmr9767
@dmr9767 3 жыл бұрын
@@TherapeuticFragrance So tinctures are like wine, right? A 5-year-old tincture will be better than the 3-year-old and the 20-year-old will be better than 5 or 10 years old. It makes sense

@TherapeuticFragrance
@TherapeuticFragrance 3 жыл бұрын
In most cases yes. Some things like Frankincense people say are there best fresh. Like citrus' it loses that crisp top note.
@alexythimia7
@alexythimia7 3 жыл бұрын
Generally musk tinctures get better with age. I tend to see changes at certain time fra.es with these materials. After about 3 to 6 months the scent starts to give hints of maturation, at around 1 year it tends to display stronger signs of maturation and at around 2 years it often seems to reach a pinnacle, but much older materials can still change and improve in scent, this applies to most materials surprisingly and from my experience a smaller amount of materials expire and deteriorate in scent such as citrus and many herbs.

?could you use a coffee grinder for the ambergris?
@TherapeuticFragrance

I would be afraid of losing to much material myself and the grinder would heat it. To much of a loss. Having the debris has leftover has already proved very valuable to work I have done.

I just got into some Alchemy books but doesn't focus on those. My friend this is my learning right in front of you. I think Abdullah showed the process for Ambergris pretty good. A part 2 to this is coming.
@alexythimia7
@alexythimia7 3 жыл бұрын
Personally I learned all of this myself through experimentation and talking with some who did it before me, so no books that come to mind, I tend to read about alchemy and how they extracted thinga in the past so maybe a good book on alchemical preparations may help a lot.
