Denise Ionescu If you have it on the spring floor, you should be able to do it on the grass. :) Try getting a friend to spot you so you have that "security". That's what helped me out when I first started. After you get comfortable, you can try doing them without a spotter. When it come to throwing your head back, try looking at something in front of you, a little bit upwards, then look at that object for as long as you can before looking backwards to spot the ground. Hope this helps! Good luck! :)

nooby gamer I recommend just practicing bringing your knees to your chest before proceeding with the flip. Do several reps of just jumping and bring your knees to your nipples, grab your shins, release and extend to land. Repeat this without flipping, just jumping. Then proceed to the flip when you get used to the motion of tucking.

I was wondering, I can front flip, side flip, cart full, cart to side flip, almost front handspring to front flip, working on websters and losers, and I can standing high jump pretty dang well. After I get over a minor setback injury, how well ought I to do this on my first try? I need confirmation from somebody who's good at it to know if I still have high chances of landing on my head or not. My basic tricks and tumbles should gather my strength, but would it be just as any other person in retrospect?

Hey man! I actually learned it on the trampoline first. After getting familiar with the motion on a tramp, I then had a friend spot me on the ground. After he spotted me once, I was able to start doing them on my own. It was really useful in breaking my fear of doing it haha. Hopefully this helps!

If you don't have mats, I would recommend finding a gymnastics center near you that offers open gym. Otherwise, grab some old pillows or an old mattress and have a friend spot you! Good luck! Stay safe!
@ChristopherTungFlips11 жыл бұрын
I certainly believe it's possible! Once I had a standing backflip on a trampoline (which is really quite easy), I was able to quickly learn a standing backflip on the grass with the help of a spotter (in one day). So definitely! Just be safe and don't push yourself too much to where you get injured. Good luck! :)

Just did my first backflip on theground with out any injuries , for me the hardest part was swingging my hands and at the same time and jump , it was only about timing , i always landed on my legs but hands landed on theground too , i know my english suck , but any way thanks a lot ! , and do you have any tips to corkscrew , i mean its so scary move , how to start practice it safely ?
@ChristopherTungFlips11 жыл бұрын
Awesome dude! The corkscrew can be a difficult move. i would recommend practicing a cheat gainer and a butterfly twist. Make sure you think of the move as a "back full" in a sense. :)

This really helped me advance from a back handspring to a back flip. I can do it after a round off and stick it. Thanks so much :D
@ChristopherTungFlips11 жыл бұрын
Being nervous is normal (I was pretty scared haha). If you are just starting, make sure you have a buddy with you and some crash mats. That will help a lot with both safety and fear. Next, try learning it on maybe a trampoline first so you can get a feel for it before attempting the move. When on the ground, you can try doing macacos to break the fear (look those up). Eventually, have somebody there to help you over (spot you) so that you can begin doing them on the ground. :) Good Luck!
@ChristopherTungFlips11 жыл бұрын
Hey man! I would probably recommend that you have some back flipping experience, whether it be on a trampoline or spotted on the ground, so that you have a basic understanding of what the movement feels like. But, It you are feeling confident and have some mats, feel free to give it a shot! :) I don't have a front flip tutorial out atm, but I'll add it to my to do list haha.
@QuotidianPerfection10 жыл бұрын
Hi Christopher Tung, Your explanation of the back tuck, although laconic, touched upon all the bio mechanical points concerning the progressions needed to master that particular skill. The video footage is synched perfectly to the movements, and links concrete to conceptual information wonderfully. Personally, I stand 5'9," and weigh 204 lbs., but still can manage to get a standing back tuck off a trampoline, and do the same off a tumble track with three bounces. My difficulty is timing my vertical--fortunately, I tuck well, and spin fast enough to compensate for my subpar jumps. I'm close to accomplishing the skill; however, others are far from their objective, and would benefit greatly from viewing this upload. Take care, QP

Hey, thanks for the great tutorial. I've gotten to where I can land on my knees onto a mattress. I find it hard to throw my arms up and tuck at the same time. Either I can tuck, but my arms don't throw up. Or, I throw my arms and I don't tuck very tight. I feel like if I can just get both of those motions down together, I'd land it. Any tips?
@ChristopherTungFlips11 жыл бұрын
Oooh, there could be a couple of problems then. You might not be jumping high enough or tucking hard enough (maybe even both). Practice jumping in place and bringing your knees up to your chest. Try tucking as hard as you can - as if you were a cannonball. Video yourself and compare your form to that of a slowmotion one. Also, if tucking is hard, try doing some core workouts such as sit-ups or reverse crunches. Hope this helps!
@ChristopherTungFlips11 жыл бұрын
Haha, my pleasure! :) Sure! I'll check it out!
@ChristopherTungFlips11 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! I appreciate it! Yeah, If you are trying to take off more vertically, staring at something when you take off for as long as you can (setting) will help a lot! But, one thing that helped me a ton was I thought of doing a gainer (don't actually do a gainer). Instead, when you backflip don't squat backwards before taking off, jump straight up and push your hips forward during the backflip. I hope this helps! Good luck! I'll check out your channel haha. xD

@ChristopherTungFlips11 жыл бұрын
Oh boy haha. When you mess up, it is possible to injure yourself in a couple of different ways. However, the chance of landing on your head or anything like that is almost impossible if you fully commit to the flip - meaning you don't open up in the air early (Just keep holding). If you want to minimize risk of injury, I would try this with a partner there who can spot you and try this over a soft surface like a crash mat or even just some squishy grass. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

@ChristopherTungFlips9 жыл бұрын
Getting over the fear is one of the most difficult parts about learning new skills. When you move to the ground, in order to help allay fears, try using a mattress/crash-mat, a spotter, or a pit (at a gymnastics center). Hope this helps! Good luck!

Hey, guys. So I've been working on doing a backflip like this for (ugh) four days now. Progress has been slow to say the least. As a climber I pride myself on being somewhat brave and willing to push myself. I have more than enough height in my jump and I've pretty much memorized the method in this video. But for some reason, I'm having a huge issue getting over my head. When I jump I get pretty much on my back and then I have an intense gut reaction that stops me from following through. I have had friends flip me over to see how it feels but I still have the same issue. The farthest I ever get is landing on the back of my neck (I have crash mats thank god). I'm still trying but if anyone could help in any way my appreciation would be immense. At this rate i will take several days before I even land on my front side.

@salimd457510 жыл бұрын
Same here bro, you need to practise it with a mate first, on the beach or on the grass. Your friend should help you less and less, and you should focus on jumping high mostly, cause he is there to help you with the rotation. After 10-15 tests, he should just let his hand on your back but not helping you at all. Then you will do it on your own.
