re-watching old videos for perspective. having been a camera drone (Mavic style) flier for the years prior to flying FPV, this was the video that blew my mind, seeing you climb those trees looking up without my quite understanding how.

Well, I started a year ago, and am starting to follow this series of tutorials. I've moved up to a LDARC 115 v3{started with a snapper 7}, because I don't get to many open areas, which is the only place I'll fly my 5" for now. Love the stick overlays. It's easy to transfer from the 115 to the 5", You're teaching me so much, I might have to up my Patreon disbursement!

Pretty cool. I had been practicing this but not to stop, but rather to throw myself backwards and try to do tricks as the view goes backwards. I like the go straight up and spin 180 then back down, awesome move.

While watching this there came a lot of moves into my mind you could do based on this one, for example: when you pulled back, throttled up and are hovering you could roll over a 180° instead of going backwards. Would be a pretty cool turn I think, or you could do a backflip out of the hovering and keep moving forwards then if there is any tight gap you don't feel confident to fly through fast you could do the move I just explained. Tuns of moves are coming up to my mind while watching this, I love the series, keep it up man!! Greetings from Germany

In fixed wing 3d airplanes, we call this a 'wall', as it's like you literally hit a wall. Done differently with fixed wing of course. You'd have medium forward speed at medium throttle, then cut power to idle and hit full up elevator. With high enough rates and a responsive enough plane, this will do an extremely quick 1/4 loop to vertical. Doing this at zero throttle should prevent most or all altitude gain. Once vertical bring throttle back up to maintain hover, or climb out. A 'parachute' is the same thing just instead of horizontal speed, you start by heading straight down, no throttle. Then pull quick up elevator to do the quick 1/4 loop and stop downward movement. Kind of like you popped a parachute. Both these can be done inverted by using full down elevator and either starting inverted (wall), or ending up inverted (parachute).

The flight is very long (instead of the typical 3 minutes). What drone can fly this long?

Did you invert the forward/backward pitch axis? Looks like you are pulling the right stick for bringing the nose up.

Hi Joshua, My name is kip. I'm new to fpv . I have only been flying for a few months. I still fly attitude. Could you suggest some ways for me to practice rate. Rate is so much smoother flight. Anything will be appreciated.

Joshua, how do you do proper loops, ala The Circle of Life video by Mr Steele (see at 2:14). I've seen mattystuntz do similar loops
@JoshuaBardwell
@JoshuaBardwell 8 жыл бұрын
+mattsnuts gooood question. Let me work on a video for that. The short answer is to pitch back slowly while keeping the throttle up, until about the 10-o'clock position on the loop. Then cut throttle and continue pitching back slowly while letting momentum carry you through the loop. It can help to do this type of move with an object like a tree or building to the side of you, so you have visibility out the corner of your eye to help you practice the timing.
