I appreciate this. I had been thinking it was good to start the day writing about what I am grateful for. I'll try it at night since sleep and dreams are also such an important part of our experience.

Thank you very much and really appreciate what you doing to the universe. I'm about to start writing a gratitude journal, my question is, are we writing only grateful for current life or can I write the things I'm dreaming(another 1 year later...etc) to have them into my life too?

It's your journal - you get to do it however you want! Visualizing what you want in the future is a good way to make it happen. That being said, those are two different practices. Gratitude for what is in your current (or even past) reality fills us when we feel like something is missing, or when we can't see the positives in our life. Visualizing something in the future is a great way to look at today of what will move you in that direction. What kinds of connections/resources/actions will be necessary to achieve what you want in the future? I also just put up another video about gratitude kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJ7XmIKnjcijeLc that may help you go deeper. Hope this helps!

I know there is no right way to do this, but what if I keep coming up with the same things everyday or every week. Like I am grateful to have my dog, but would putting something often reduce the effect it's having?

I just watched another video that addressed this. There is no reason you can’t be grateful every day for a thing, a feeling, a person, a beloved pet, whatever. I recently started a gratitude journal and almost immediately became stressed out by the idea that I might have to find something new to write down every day. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that: 1) this shouldn’t be a stressful activity, and 2) there are many things that we are truly grateful for on a regular, repeating basis. For example, I am grateful for my husband every day - it can only be good for our relationship if I acknowledge that regularly, and I know that not everyone is as fortunate as I am to have such a wonderful person in my life. I also have the two most adorable, loving cats and every day I derive so much pleasure from their presence in my life that I have a hard time not putting something about them in my journal, even if it’s just a sticker (I journal digitally). I do, however, try to make a point of thinking about what other things I’m grateful for, so that I make sure I’m “aware” each day and reflecting on what new or different things I should appreciate, too.

Great question! (I'm actually editing a followup video to this one). My advice is to go deeper. What are 5 things you love about your dog? Another way to go deeper into gratitude is finding the gifts in negative experiences-not just the good ones. For example: I'm grateful for COVID because my son has become much more independent with getting his school work done. Hope this helps.
