I am amazed that I did this on my own in 2008. I had a pill cutter and a razor blade for smaller. No scale. I do recommend that you find a Dr like them to guide you through. I did well enough, despite the severe trauma. I had sought help then before going it alone. The recovery required me seeking an ethical MD/Naturopath Dr., her 'outside of the box' remedies and self administered treatment coaching was outstanding. I would still be primarily sustained on protein shakes/liquid diet, had i not found her, and several other complications that would have taken me much longer to profress my recovery. For me, it was a different medication than they discussed. It can be scary, but now there is more help and more sane psychiatric knowledge becoming more mainstream and available like they've offered here. Wishing everyone a better survival story than mine, and recovery. ❤

On the final weeks or months of tapering when the amt. is extremely small....how is this to be handled from scale to pill box? If you were as mentioned doing a weeks worth of dosage how is each dosage contained before usage? Are there generic empty capsules available to pour this small amount into to be taken when needed? This aspect was not discussed in video and would appreciate feedback if someone knows the answer. Thank you so much in advance!

Valid question. I believe some med supply stores do sell empty gel caps. Try calling locally. For me, I shaved off smaller and smaller pieces and kept the different sizes in a weekly pill box. And it was a lot more guessing and feeling it out. But I had to, to survive and recover my mind and body. But this was a decade before any psychiatrist would have publicly formed any concierge medical practice like Dr Josef Witt-doerring has.

I definitely didn't average my dry microtaper. I just weighed each one as I went along in my taper and subtracted the % of the reduction (Desired reduction/Pill total mg = X, 100-X=Y, convert Y to a %) to subtract from the weight (weight of pill - y% = goal weight). It's so much easier and more accurate. Ex 1.96 mg goal out of 2 mg pill 1.96/2 = 0.98 = this is 98% of the pill left, which means we are removing 2% of the pill. Weight the pill 0.22-2% = 0.2156 is goal weight (or 0.216)

So as it turns out I went completely off the valium and I haven’t touched one since. But you have to come off the pain medicine too but it’s a whole different ball game coming off of pain meds I think is way easier. But of course talk to your doctor!

@taperclinic Жыл бұрын
you decide what you want your cut to be. e.g., I want a 2% cut of a 1mg klonopin. then you weight the 1mg tablet, next you would mulitply the weight of the tablet by 98%. Then you would know when to stop shaving the tablet. e.g., the tablet weighs 10mg so 10mg x 98% = 9.8mg - ill shave the 10mg tab until the scale shows 9.8 mg. If you ingested the tablet it would be a 0.98mg of klonopin

@@taperclinic😂 that is approximately how I guessed at tapering in 2008. I am so grateful to be alive and able to type this even semi coherently, now! 😅 Something I did then was one small sliver of a pill every other day, then every third day, until I was down to one every 5th day, in the last 5 weeks of my tapering. I was very diligent at it, and fortunately didn't have extreme, or complex, withdrawal symptoms in my 6 month process. Most of what I read up on came from surviving patients blogs and comment posts describing how to survive severe medication mismanagement. This newly minted practice of so called "experts" appropriating a knowledge space as their hegemonic territory so as to then ramble on and on with statements of th e obvious, it's the new normal of the new norm-hole. And it really sucks. I'm quitting tobacco, and have found the pattern very similar to that encountered in severe benzo addiction whereby the initital phase yields withdrawal reactions so severe as to profoundly re-inforce the dependency, this by way of creating more trauma. Finally, and only after several months pushing into withdrawal -trauma, am I finding it possibly to actually push back on the dependency so as to wean off. Even so, today's professional class culture is so stupid, hegemonic, arrogant, childish and vile that we ought best to be pondering the idea of the mass decertification of the professional class per the criminally insane cohort of textbook yammering trash that we of the salaried class have always been. Mindless, heartless, incompetent and arrogant, we destroy just aboue everything and everybody we touch, and this is by design. But we're too stupid and hooked to the smell of our own butt-cracks to so much as acknowledge our own penchent for buraucratized violence.. So it was for me in teaching, same in big law and medical science not to mention the clergy, all of us in these so called "helping" and "control " professions respectively are horrible creatures.

No matter how long the half-life of a drug, it's always better to split up the daily dose into multiple doses. If your daily dose is 1mg, taking 0.25mg 4 times per day will carry you better than taking 1mg in the morning. Long halflife gives the illusion of it not mattering much. A prime example of halflife being an illusion how lorazepam has a longer effect on holding back seziures than valium even though Valium has a much longer half life and Valium has metabolites with 4-8 day half lives and lorazepam has no active metabolites yet it's effective longer. but there is much more going on than half life like how Lipophilic the drug is and how it diffuses into body tissues or fat.

@ I believe this channels and others like it are not beneficial and are more harmful. I started reading 3 years ago and 18 months ago told my Doctor I wanted to get off them after getting off 7 other medications on my keto than carnivore lifestyle. My Doctor said you only on a few mg’s it’s not that much. Given the 11/19 after my Wife died of Ovarian Cancer 1 year after my Father died at 90. So In summer of 2023 I tell my Doctor I am falling asleep without the Xanax but I am afraid to not take at least 1 mg a night. It still took another year and me meeting several times to be sure he would switch me to Valium for last part of quitting. Now I have to start up with a new Doctor and 90% of all the doctors I knew and my Father knew are all retired and the hospital system is failing☮️

He is the only guy that I would believe. Most of them are just ignorant or don’t care.

Every word he says is true. He’s even sugar coating some of it to avoid scaring people. Those are my hurt friends he’s having on. How dare you make such a statement? Benzodiazepine Injury and benzodiazepine tapering injuries are real and crippling people and leaving them tortured alive in chronic akathisia & other BIND injuries. Find the Benzodiazepine Information Coalition and brush up on your lack of knowledge. Find Nicole Lamberson PA and hear about her benzodiazepine injury and her work for BIC and the award winning documentary “Medicating Normal”. Find Geraldine Burns and hear about her benzodiazepine injury and her work with the Massachusetts Benzodiazepine Bill and her work on the documentary “As Prescribed”.
