Love all your videos. Would love to see much more about the ve pumps. I have a 92 w250 that im trying to fix up and build into a hauling daily. Doing injectors right now and checking injection timing. Then will be looking into everything else ( based on my limited knowledge of these i suspect a bad injector) also built my own little black diesel set up from your videos. One day ill travel up from the valley and come bring you some buisness. Again love all the information you have to share with the rest of us.

Very good information. It would be very interesting to see you tear one down and show what we can fix, like those shaft seals you mentioned, and what can't be fixed without re-calibrating on a bench.

Would also love a video if you ever get the chance to record setting injection timing on a ve pump. I think i have an understanding of how to do it. Set cyl1 to tdc. Push in dial indicator. Crank back from tdc till dial stops. Set 0 and crank back to tdc. But a video on how its done would be awesome because most are not very well shown. Again. Love the info you share with all of us.

Hey Rob, i just replaced my pin and and spring but forgot to note where the throttle indexing was... Is there a procedure for starting that from scratch? The truck will start fine but it doesn't run/iddle well and when i try to adda little throttle with the pedal it tries to die. Thanks for the excellent content!!

So if my truck has a rough idle at start up I need to put tension on the gov spring ? Or back the star off as in loosen it a bit ?
@CUTTERUPROB Жыл бұрын
Depends on the rough idle. Hard to tell you what to do without knowing more

These VE pumps are on the BMW M21 like in my 85 524td. Ive turned up the boost and now i need more fuel. I assume the principles behind switching out the fuel pin and spring that work for the 12V Cummins should deliver positive results to my BMW as well, right? Thanks for the videos on the VE.

i have never play with a bmw, but if its ve bosch pump i am sure its similar so it should

So what other kinda mods do you have to do to that pump to try an sqeeze 400hp out of it along with a set of compounds or a big single turbo
@CUTTERUPROB3 жыл бұрын
without having the pump built , gov spring, fuel pin , fuel screw are the easy ones

My VE quit working suddenly. Wasn't the fuel solenoid. Don't see any bent linkages removing the top. Has fuel to it, fuel pumps out the FSS hole when cranking, was full of fuel when I took the top off. I would be interested to see one taken apart as it would help me to understand why mine not longer pumps fuel to the injectors.

What does the Gov Spring do/change? 3200 rpm seems a bit low, doesn't it? My Diesel engine does 4400 rpm with a Bosch ve.
@CUTTERUPROB Жыл бұрын
It’s depends on the engine. The stock 12v Cummins ve pump is 2500 ish for defuel. So the 3200rpm adds 500ish before defuel makes the truck a lot nice to drive

To replace just the o rings for the throttle shaft do I still need to take the top of the pump or can I leave the top in tact?
@CUTTERUPROB4 жыл бұрын
you can leave the afc housing on if that's what you mean. But you do need to pull the case top off as the shaft has to come out the button as you see in the video

hello there, i have a problem. On my tractor i had very low idle rpm, below 500 rpm, so i checked the pump and the throttle lever was very wobbly , the holding screw was very lose so i tightened it. now the idle is on 530 rpm or so. I wonder if the throttle lever moved when it was wobbly so long and changed the position. Can i move the throttle lever one notch so that the idle will be a bit higher, the max throttle would be higher as well because of that ?? Will that higher max throttle harm the pump or engine in anyway, will the engine runaway?, Or should i just leave the throttle lever as it is, and only adjust the idle rpm set screw (i would set it to around 650 RPM)? The pump has never been rebuilt, and guessing from paint the rest of screws are in original settings, only the one that holds the lever on the shaft was unscrewed. ty bb
@CUTTERUPROB4 ай бұрын
Unless there is an issue in the issue all the stuff won’t make it runaway. Just adjust the idle where you need and put it back to work

OK, well, wait a second: So what is the big physical difference between governor springs? What did you do, just re-install the same spring?
