I started some years ago doing calisthenics and eventually I turned to CF. HSPU was a big thing for me to develop properly and thanks to your video it went smoothly! Thanks a lot!

From an anatomy professor and chiropractor --- Great job here - also important to let folks know that if one supports their weight on their head while kipping it is the same as performing a push-press with their body weight starting with the bar resting across the top of the head. The focus needs to be upon only lightly touching the head and kipping when the upwards movement has started and the shoulders and arms are bearing the load.

The HSPU are my Achilles heel on my WOD's. I've watched quite a few videos on how to do them and their progression. As of this moment I'm doing holds and maybe 1 HSPU. But I will tell you this... this video by far has shown me better ideas on how to progress into HSPU than any other video out there. The siting dumbbell 3 second hold... BRILLIANT! It makes so much sense that I do not know how this was missed all over the web. :-) Thanks.

Great tips bro! Alot of people say that you're lifting %100 of your bodyweight when doing pull-ups or handstand pushups........but its not true if you stop to think about it. On the PullUp bar, your fingers and part of palms are RESTING on the bar, therefore that weight is NOT being lifted by you. I know its not a lot, its probably less than %1 bodyweight, but still counts. Same goes for Handstand pushup.......your hands are fully rested on the floor, thats weight you're not taking or moving, so i'd say PULLUPs, its 99%,bodyweight and HandStand, about 97% bodyweight! But im no scientist :)

Second drill might be very helpful - did that only in standing version.
@arvin88923 жыл бұрын
It works better seated because when you do it that way you may tend to come forward or lean back because of the weight, but when you're standing you have more support from your legs. So you have to keep a tight core to make sure you stay upright.

How exactly does the handstand pushup work? Like if I weigh 160 lbs would that be like shoulder pressing with two 80 lb dumbbells? That sounds like a lot. Or perhaps the handstans pushup uses more than just shoulders?

I think you should do wall hand stand push ups by facing your stomach to the wall not back..it can cause unnecessary stress on your lower back and make your push alot easier..if you do with your stomach faced to the wall it may be a bit harder but reduces the unnecessary stress..
