Really appreciate you explaining the reason for keeping the hands in the same position (like dominant on top during the whole swing) rather than switching hand positions with each swing. Super helpful! Also you look so good jumping! Hope I get to that level of awesome too lol

Great video Glen. I love the back to basics with the right vs. wrong. Two things: 1) at 0:03, you start out with your right hand going backward with the rope, then transition it to your left and pivot your body. That's badass and I'm trying that on Monday. 2) That shoulder stop you do at 3:43 is slick. Your transitions are incredibly smooth. I always learn something from your videos. Great stuff!

@RopeRage

Good spot, Verdrehte! Yeah, so I do switch between using swivel mechanism and non-swivel just to keep things fresh. Don't want to get to a point where I am too reliant on one style of rope. I still LOVE the swivel mechanism ropes for speed and smoothness; sometimes the closest rope to me is just a regular rope, so I use that in the video 😄 There is a video on this channel called Speed Ropes vs. Regular Ropes, have you seen that one? That might be able to answer any questions you have. Lemme know 👍🏽 -Glen

So, I mostly don't struggle with side swings, but when I try to do southpaw variants, specifically on my left side, the rope often twists on itself and when I try to open it to jump through if I'm not super aggressive with flicking it open it won't actually overcome the twist. It does this with any rope I use, so it's not the rope, it's something with my hand/wrist movements I'm certain, I just can't figure out what exactly the problem is.
@RopeRage
@RopeRage 2 жыл бұрын
Arvendor, I get what you mean. In fact, I think I’ll make a video on this one soon to demonstrate as I have heard this issue before. Whenever the rope twists on itself it's because there isn't enough separation.

I’d definitely recommend using the Rage Gear nunchucks, or if you don’t have any, just use two sticks - I’m serious about that. Because what you’ve described there is often down to isolation of the hands. I hope this helps out a bit, but I will explain more in the video soon if not anyway. Cheers, - Glen

Love the vid!! Q: What the point of the switching or to transmit the right hand on the top of the left and opposite? Couldn't we just have one hand,, say the right one fixed ?
@RopeRage
@RopeRage 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Nasser, glad you enjoyed the vid and thanks for reaching out 😎 So the point with switching is essentially balance. With Rope Rage training, one of the most important aspects is to develop into a well-rounded athlete, and having to use only our dominant hand can build reliance and one-sidedness. So for example, if we’re constantly side-swinging with the right hand leading, we become reliant on that and it can cause muscular imbalances over time. In the training handbook (which is almost finished! 😁) coming soon, I address this at length, but a good way to think of it is with running - It would be a bit strange to say “when I run, I step better with my right leg than my left.” And that’s because we’ve been walking all our lives and have built a BALANCE of using both legs. The idea here is the same. Both hands don’t exactly have to be perfectly equal in ability, but they should at least both be proficient. The rule is always when you’re comfortable doing it on your strong side, start to work on the weak side. It pays off in the end and unlocks A LOT of “ninja” ability. A bit of a long response here but I just wanted to make sure I answered your question thoroughly 👍🏽 How’s your training been going lately? Hope it’s been progressing well 🚀 Cheers, -Glen

Cheers for this, any advice on slightly heavier jump rope? I’m thinking it might help my timing.I’ve seen some from crossrope.com...they are ridiculously expensive and ship from USA. Any thing similar and cheaper in the U.K./ Europe?
@RopeRage
@RopeRage 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah good question, Marcus. I'm not sure for the UK, as I use some pretty basic plastic ropes I got from Amazon as well as some Rx SmartGear ropes. I think the latter are good and you can get different rope weights, but they are also based in the US. I was told some time ago that there was an outlet in the UK also, but that was some time ago and I can't confirm whether they're still around. Would say have a look on Amazon/Google for weighted ropes (you can also send me an email of a rope you find that you'd like a second opinion on, if you'd like)-other than that, apologies I can't be much help here! Let me know how you get on 👍🏽 Cheers, -Glen

Hey I have a weird problem with my side swings maybe you know the cause of it? When I'm swinging to my right side the rope starts to twist itself, especially at a higher speed. It doesn't happen when I'm swinging it to my left side though. I tried switching my lead hand but it has no effect on it. Is it possible that the rope has something to do with it?
@RopeRage
@RopeRage 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mich, thanks for reaching out and apologies for the delayed response here; I could’ve sworn I replied but it looks like it didn’t send-things have been quite hectic after the launch of the Rope Rage training handbook this week! I can definitely say it's not particularly an issue with the rope, because you only experience it on one side. That suggests it's something to do with how you handle the rope on your right side. Good thing is that you're comfortable on your other side, so in this case you can use your left side to "teach" your right side. I do this a lot myself. If one side is weaker, pause and really focus in on your stronger side, the little details, why exactly your stronger side works and your weaker side doesnt-then try to replicate that on the other side; using a mirror helps too! There's actually a video no this channel that I'd definitely recommend because it goes into rope tangling in detail (why it happens, which ropes are more prone to tangling, etc.) Search for a vid under 'NO MORE STRESSFUL SIDE SWINGS' on this channel and I'm sure it'll help out. I know this is a bit of a lengthy reply, but I just wanted to make sure I answered your question properly (especially since the hectic schedule has meant it has taken a month for you to get a response here! 😄) Keep me posted on how you get on 👍🏽 - Glen

Hi Snoopy - first off, apologies for the delayed reply. It’s been pretty hectic at my end recently so I’m just getting back to responding to messages.

For the double side swings tangling happens a lot when first learning. This is because the key with this technique is the timing; have you been able to make progress with it at this point?

 And also, what kind of rope are you using?
