A little late here but glad I found this. This is the best tutorial out there. Been looking for something like this. Tired of vids of people showing off and not really teaching the technique. And if so, it’s really shitty. This is like a cool One on one training session. Thanks brother!

I’ve been having this pain on my left leg around the side calves ever since I started jump rope I hope this is normal , love your videos thank you
@RopeRage Жыл бұрын
hey Michael, thanks for the message - glad you love the videos Believe it or not, this is more common than you might think and tends to come down to jumping technique. When we walk (run/jump/whatever), the majority of us don't put equal emphasis through both feet, and with an exercise like repeated jumping this can cause an imbalance over time. Something you can try to help this, is when you're jumping (best to do this without the rope) really be mindful of how your left leg feels from your right. If you're right-footed (like me) you'll realize you don't step as precisely with the left, and the foot kinda just 'hits the ground' It caused me a few issues and so I did a bunch of studying and research into this and wrote about it in the Redefining Rage book, which you can get on the Rope Rage website if you need to read more. Forgive the long message; I just wanted to be thorough in my response here. Hope that helps out, let me know how you get on 👍 Cheers, - Glen

Rope Rage Thank you, much appreciated,will do. I have literally turned into your student overnight, I’ve been following people like the Rush Athletics,Jump Rope Dudes..but as a tutor you surpass them by miles, really love your the perspective ! I’m a beginner although I’ve been using the rope for a couple of years but only doing 60-100 single jumps in between my work out every now and again, always finding it a bit of a challenge, I knew I had a weak point in my training so a few weeks ago I decided to step up and make jump rope central to my weekly workouts but knew it would be monotonous just doing single jumps and so been searching for the right tutor...thought I found a couple ( Rush Athletics whom I got a rope from and Buddy Lee) til now! Look forward to your handbook/ manual! It will be my new bible! 😆🙏.

I’ve been working on developing this for a few years now - I really do put a lot of heart and energy into it, so I appreciate your comments a lot. One thing you can be sure of is that I’ll work to keep the rope training interesting and exciting here - it’s the whole premise upon which I started this little Rope Rage project! Rope Rage Hi Glen, appreciate all your replies 👍 So rude ! I’m Blue 👋 ( not another alias!) And you are welcome, your videos show passion and are distinctive , you have a way of giving the rope integrity and definitely deserve great feedback! I look forward to looking through the archives while I practice and also any future vids. In regards to your reply from ‘Release the inner Slayer’ My training sessions are definitely fun. Once I received Rushies Athletics rope I put my old rope aside and started practising a little more but in the last week I’ve been practicing for at least half hour each day, I’ll keep that going. Been practicing the side swings, boxer step, criss cross, which literally makes me cross 😖,sometimes I do one sometimes four+ sometimes non! 🙄 frustrating ! .but patience is a virtue and that is a skill in itself when practicing another skill ! 😅 I of course continue to do the single unders and alternating steps, becoming lighter on the feet hopefully. I’m seeing improvements be them small 😬.....but now I have a Jedi Master I have faith in the Rope 🙏 😀 One problem though, the one handed side swing - rope keeps twisting EVERY TIME ! Can you do a short vid on how to keep the rope untwisted for beginner beginners ? Or am I being 🤪 and the only solitary student that suffers this pain? Please help! Your faithful student 😆 Blue
@RopeRage4 жыл бұрын
Good to meet ya, Blue 👍🏽 Yeah, definitely keep up the consistent practice; persistence, persistence!-that and always pushing that little bit further and asking more of yourself (i.e., not just getting complacent when you've achieved some level of accomplishment) are keys to mastery 🔐 For the one-handed swing, I will do a short vid on how to fix the tangling issue. There are a few video requests in the pipeline that need to come out first, though, so please bear with. I will drop you a comment when it's posted 😎In the meantime, this video looks at the tangling issue but for side swings with two hands - would be a good introduction and the concepts mentioned in it might be helpful: I kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqOsmpV5pKytqJI All the best with your training, and stay Raging! -Glen

Thanks for those suggestions; really appreciate it as it helps me structure my plans for future helpful videos. OK, so that's four different tutorials there right? 1) under leg swings 2) nunchaku rope techniques 3) switching one handed swings (sword swings) 4) reversals (changing rope directions using improvisational utilization of the body) Let me know if I've got those right, and thanks again for the suggestions. ALSO, for the website training info, I think most of them will come under the SkippingRope Samurai program, which is mainly Rope Rage style techniques that have been developed with inspiration from martial arts/movement programs. @RopeRage4 жыл бұрын
yeah, I understand. It's great that you've realized the connection between being tense and how that affects rhythm. I’m actually in the process of wrapping up a training handbook, and one of the focus topics is working on jumping with ease and effortless rhythm. It’s gonna be a part comic book/part training manual kinda thing and will comprise pretty much everything I have picked up in my experience training, good and bad, and it should be pretty much a guidebook of sorts for the rope training journey. Anyway, main thing is to keep at it with patience (VERY challenging at times 😄) and the rhythm should gradually come as you build comfort with the rope 👌🏽 Bit of a long message here but hopefully this tip helps out with your current struggles somewhat. @RopeRage6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you’re on the right track but think of it slightly differently... the boxer step demands a lot of calf engagement, so doing the technique WILL DEVELOP that muscle group more. You’re having a hard time because it’s a new experience to that muscle group, keep at it and you’ll notice it gets easier and the difficulty subsides. Great question, I’m sure it’s on a lot of people’s minds. Thanks Komi, -Glen

hah, I do give him credit! Just was hoping and praying to all things holy that he wouldn't run behind the camera. Still, made for a cool part of the video so no problem. Thanks for the props, hopefully the info in this vid helps out a bit 👍

I just can't get the boxer step, no matter what. I can single under perfectly and run in place perfectly. I can get the movement correct but once I bring the rope in, my legs automatically start running in place; they take on a mind of their own. I've looked at everyone's tutorials and can't get it.

Hah, yeah so like I just mentioned on that other comment - this here sounds like a great case of you having learned a technique so precisely that your subconscious mind can take over and go “autopilot”. To learn new movements you’re probably going to have to break out of some patterns - which will be uncomfortable at first. But push through. One major thing to do would be to start working on new footwork patterns WITHOUT the rope. Do that until you’ve got the pattern down in your subconscious and don’t really have to think about it. Then when you get the rope involved, you’ll be less inclined to overthink the whole thing. And of course, feel free to check back here and keep me posted with updates Cheers, -Glen

@@RopeRage thanks for your reply. I had a session dedicated to this again yesterday. It really is like I've started from scratch. I need to hack to the programming 😀

@@jaybo197306 that's it, patience and persistence. Some techniques are tougher than others, have to be stubborn and keep tweaking things and re-trying! 🔥
