You're a delightful teacher : wonderful info, even for someone who's been on FB Live for almost 150 episodes but doing it the "old fashioned" way via FB's live settings with no OBS. About time you pulled me into the future! Who knows, maybe I'll even acquiesce and start using my phone to read QR code menus ;) Cheers from Nashville.

@@LynzCrichton have you looked at the "streamlabs" version of obs? i have been trying to decide which version to use to start live streaming. I've figured out how to get my studio control room / piano / guitar and cubase daw integrated into either version. i haven't yet gone live because i'm trying to figure out how to set up the notifications and the function that would allow for tipping though paypal. any recommendations?
@LynzCrichton3 жыл бұрын
@@petermoonband7181 hey Peter 👋🏻 I do know Streamlabs! Yes, they have recently also allowed Mac users and it certainly is next-level stuff - has so many bells, whistles and integrations it’s awesome! If you are serious about live-streaming and your determined to ride the learning curve, I’d probably recommend Streamlabs BUT obs can certainly do what you need, but you can integrate payments & donations into Streamlabs and multicast etc there, on a paid programme. You can add a payment link with just OBS but you’d have to do it in the comments section or via Restream - if you’re setting up donations in Streamlabs, you can do it via the ‘donations’ setting in the menu on the left hand side on your dashboard. Hope that helps!

@@LynzCrichton please tell how to play mp3 music... your answer will be highly appreciated... thanks and more power to your channel ☺️☺️☺️
@LynzCrichton2 жыл бұрын
@@jeffreydometita8710 Hey Jeffrey thanks for your comment! I will make a video on this as a few people have asked - but essentially you can add a 'media source' in the 'sources' section of OBS and add whatever Mp3 you wish. You must of course make sure that you either have the rights to that music, or you use NCS.io for non-copyrighted music so you don't get into trouble streaming it. If one Mp3 is not enough, you could create playlist by using an audio editing suite and making one track of 10 different songs for example and using that one mp3 in OBS, just pausing between songs. Hope that helps x

Thank you so much for this video! I've looked everywhere to find info on good audio for musicians using OBS and yours is the first I've found. I have a question. I've been doing a livestream on Zoom where I interview a special guest and they play as well. I'm also doing the first half hour myself. I'm using a mixer and a 4i4 scarlet interface. I've been trying to figure out what software to use to in conjunction with OBS that won't bog down my computer but still has great audio. Any suggestions? @sedfirstaid36574 жыл бұрын
Hi Lynz, Firstly great tutorial. you take the time to explain and then confirm what you are doing which is a great help for any student well done you. I have a question on the use of an analog mixer. So I am using a Mac and I have backing tracks uploaded onto iTunes which I will use to sing to. I have an outboard analog mixer where my microphone is plugged into with the idea of using the effects od the mixer reverb etc. From here I am taking two 1/4 cables from the mixer to the front of the my Focusrite Interface and from the back of the interface two 1/4 jacks to two monitors and then usb connection to my computer. So that is the setup and it is working through OBS. However, Iam having trouble getting the volume of the vocal to mix with the music. ( the music comes out perfect by the way) Is there any way I can get the vocal to mix and match the music. Is there something else I need to install? Or is there another way without using the analog mixer but able to get some effects on OBS. Sorry for the long comment just wanted to explain the situation for you. Thanks, Lynz in advance I welcome any advice you can give. SED

Thanks for your video Lynz. I'm considering going to you for some advice. One thing, I already do Facebook Live, using my Scarlett interface -- I don't get what is the big benefit to then doing this through OBS? It doesn't by itself improve audio and video. I've tried running comparisons and didn't noice any difference. So why OBS? Instead of just Facebook live, what's the value added for you as a musician?
@LynzCrichton4 жыл бұрын

What resolution and frame rate do you use? I have options of 720p 30 or 60fps or 1080p 30 or 60. I’ve been private test streaming to figure it all out. A limitation of OBS, I've found is that it only supports Vst2 plugins. I've been trying to feed OBS with a signal from Reaper (my DAW) so that the streamed output isn't so dry, but would include compression and reverb etc, from using vst3 plugins such as Ez-mix etc. Not having any luck so far! Have you dabbled in this area? It takes the geekery to the next level because you have to mess about with virtual asio drivers and scary stuff like that!
@LynzCrichton4 жыл бұрын
Hey Alan! It's a great point - and yes, you are right, but I have found a way around it... are you on a mac or PC? If you're using a Mac you can download a piece of software called Loopback which allows you to route your DAW through OBS - and it sounds awesome! Loop back is pricey around $100 from memory, but they let you have a trial period, and I believe you could stream for up to 20 mins for free with it I think? Worth a dabble? rogueamoeba.com/loopback/ It is also possible do this DAW routing on PC but you need another programme.... I'll see if I can find it if you need?
@AlanThompson_music4 жыл бұрын
@@LynzCrichton Lynz Crichton I've always been a PC user. Really surprised I've struggled with this as I'm usually quite good with techie stuff. With Reaper and OBS, the theory is that you use ReaRoute plugin to add a virtual send, and get OBS to receive this as an input (but you need to install an Asio driver for OBS first). I've done all that and it just doesn't want to play nicely :-( A PC equivalent of loopback would be an interesting option to experiment with, if you know one?

@@LynzCrichton yes, I discovered VB Cable too and can confirm that it works! You need to make sure input monitoring is ON for each track. Then use the Cable Output as the audio source in OBS.
