a very polished and convincing presentation. exactly what i would expect from someone who's made a successful career out of persuading people to buy particular things they may or may not need. i find it a bit condescending that he feels that his commercials "give" people dignity.. as though they don't have it to begin with. he equates marketing with growth, as though self-determination, moderation, and discipline were produced directly from external persuasion and desire, and not inherent factors in the value system of a purpose driven mind. he seems to subtly imply what much of what marketing has implied for a long time- that no values or purpose are imparted to you unless you have a thing. if it works though, maybe he isn't wrong in most cases. the world seems to nod with him in it's own way

I became a marketer so I could help climate change action-takers become more well-known and I'm finally in a position where I have the right credits to go and work for an organisation which actually helps humans.

Very well said. The comparison to doctors and other - more "easily" described jobs, is spot on. Next time you need to do one on Trade Marketing, so I'll know what to tell my mum :)
