Hellooooo my loves! This is my first time doing faux locs (I’ve already had them in for a week) and I love all the great feedback I'm getting for it! Here's the "How To" on what I did. It worked perfectly for me but that doesn't guarantee it will work perfectly for you. Be open to trial and error! Hope you like it! Don't hesitate to let me know your requests/suggestions.
I used 4 1/2 packs in total for this style
42 parts/locs by the time I finished
Longest loc is 18'
This hair is synthetic

These new faux loc methods are pretty awesome, especially cause you could do it over actual locs if you wanted just to switch things up for a different look

This style is hella cute! Yes old vid but this style is by far the best and most natural look I was going for. I am a very detailed person..like veeeery. I agree with some of you guys here. Let me break it down and give my opinion, thoughts, tips,etc. I really wish she'd do a revamp/re-make because the results differ from how she explained for me also. The pack give 14/15 Locs per pack. They are 18 " however as she explained when split/opened they get longer turning into a 36" piece. She also stated she used 4 packs which would be 56 or 60 locs total...okk..cool. She also stated she doubled some to get thicker locs. Looking at the style seemed a lot in the middle were thick and yes with edges you always want to go smaller(rip..to sides & edges if you don't). With that being said doubling them would render 28+ or less. Just looking again a pic (pressing pause and play ....yes I had to break it down..yes this style is everything) it looks like around 25+ locs. Ok hopefully you're still following. Now the part that threw me off and that Hunty is very hard to do..in the video she stated and showed us to make sure the ends were even....🤔if it's one piece and bringing the ends even..it brings it back to 18" maybe 19" because it's now in a stretched state. Not to mention for me the loc spiral effect it had is lost. Now trust me I am trying and have yet to form and re-create what has been shown here. I have went through the comments and again have to agree....the style and details given did not render the same results. I really wish she redo a more detailed version. If not the whole head just a loc or two for us the people who feel in complete love with the style. I promise if I get it down I will do my version and link her video because I love this style just that much. And can we not mention how absolutely gorg she is😍. Well 2018 and I'm still trying, who else out here still trying to achieve this look?

Val yes so the locs come so tightly raveled that when you unravel it, it increases in length. the way you twist the hair around isn’t tight tight either so the 30” she mentioned isn’t exactly 30” it’s more like 20-30 depending on how tight you twist around the hair. mine were about 22 only because i was making them tight when i twisted it. does that make sense?
@val8033
@val8033 5 жыл бұрын
@@AshleyStLouis-nv7jb Yes that makes sense so far. So after you separate 1 loc, do you make both ends even length before wrapping or do you make the ends uneven in order to keep the long length?

So if you wanted the locs to be 30" how would it work?? Sorry I'm a bit lost. It looked like you slid the 30" loc through the loop of the braid and used the other end to twist making it 18" again. How did you keep the length??

@raquelalexis7522
@raquelalexis7522 6 жыл бұрын
It comes as 18" then she opens it, it now becomes 30". Once opened it is no longer 18". Twist it around your actual braid and once it passes the length of your actual hair, you tie a knot and finish twisting it. Hope that helps 🙋🏾‍♀️

Ladies you are right the only way is to add 2 locs together. I tried her way and it did not work per what was described. Maybe a few typos..I don't know but PLEASE if a anyone got the same look or know of a another let us know. JazzNicole has a method similar. Create a long thin braid...open a love to the 30" and use the whole love to wrap the braid. I also think she wrapped very loose to give the messy more natural look. I am determined to get this look...if I get it again I will post and link her vid☺

The locs come prepared for crocheting. (15-18 inches) when I pull them apart it doubles in length (30'' +) I either used that single loc or, if I want them to be thicker, I put it side by side another loc (after being pulled apart) and do the same process shown in the video. Sometimes I twist them together first sometimes I don't (and keep them side by side). Guess that's a personal judgement call lol whichever works best for you. I hope that answers your question!
