Well...I used to teach my students to visualise in my tennis coaching days & I'd assume similarly in most other sports, at a certain level at least. I'm going to share this vid with my son...It was short and sweet. Cheers Jason . 🎸🎸🎸

Great advice! I have to add it's very helpful for me to think of at least one of my fingers and their fret position as the "anchor point". If I have trouble framing the entire chord for a change, I can usually start with the highest or lowest notes and then quickly press the rest of the chord down from that anchor point. Start slow work up to it. The next part is to remember using the picking hand/arm to leverage the neck into position for your fretting hand to meet it in the middle. Not all pressure has to come from the fretting hand- combination of fretting finger strength but also efficiency from applying some counter pressure from the picking hand. Imagine playing without strums or picking but simply applying "tap like" pressure to your fretting hand by leveraging the neck. Sorry verbose, trying to explain it clearly. Lastly, seek out some inverted chords if quick changes are tricky, often a more convenient shape can be found if willing to for example invert the low root note to be the high note etc.

Good advice on technique. Another factor, especially for beginners with entry-level guitars, can be a high string action because of a badly-setup guitar.

Absolutely, I didn't realise how bad my first guitar was to play until I bought a decent one.

Yeah. That thinking ahead thing. Just can't get it into my brain. Pretty sure I failed on the piano because of it, and now I'm failing on the guitar. 😅 It's way to easy for me to get lost in the beautiful sound that's coming out of the instrument or speaker.
