Very clear. I've been using too much weight and not getting a full range of motion.

Love to hear that this helped you. With most isolation exercises, the range of motion, time under tension, and a focus on the mind-muscle connection is much more important than the weight you are using. A rep range as low as 8 and as high as 20 is great for muscle growth in isolation exercises.

@@SeriouslyStrongTraining I was using 30 lbs in plates plus the bar and doing 20+ reps. I realized that I was just bouncing back and forth in the mid-range of motion. My arms weren't extending at the top, and at the bottom my elbows weren't bent even 90 degrees. With 20 lbs in plates I can do it properly. I understand the importance of range of motion and time under tension, but I think we can sometimes drift away from proper form just to get that feeling of doing a lot; I need to take a step back sometimes. BTW, I've always had great triceps and I'm 75. Thanks again!

@@SeriouslyStrongTraining I have weights at home but of course not much to choose from compared to the gym. For some excercises, like the one shown in the video, all my weights are too light. Is it ok to increase reps and decrease rest time? I find that doing this gives me a much better pump and session overall, but I want a professionals opinion. Thank you

@@oscar-ff2nn yes you can absolutely do that. Resting as little as you need to get the next set of targeted repetitions is a good approach 👍🏼

2 question. Is one arm dumbell french press more effective? And is seated dumbell french press more effective than standing french press?

Most of the differences between these variation is going to be centered around personal preference. As long as you are challenging yourself to the same degree with each exercise, you will get similar results.

never knew these were called French Presses (and I had heard the term "French Press" before).

I didn’t know that for a long time either. I thought the French press was just for coffee ☕️

Sometimes a lighter weight can help you keep your elbows in place when practicing this exercise. A mirror is a great help too!

That is great news. When you are learning new movements, the mirror, a video camera, or a friend can be very helpful to compare form to what we show in these videos.@@abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz937
