Good point by several commenters. There is actually another dodge, an emergency dodge. this happens when you press Aim at the right moment. I think that may be for beginners. That dodge happened to me Once in 20 hours of playing and thousands of dodges. I think once you learn the dodge button, it is pretty useless, and maybe just randomly will save you when you are panic firing. Or perhaps it works better against Hunters like in the original game. Any thoughts or ideas?

That is absolutely true because I only dodged a couple of zombies but the NEMESIS maybe the easiest enemy to Dodge and I will try it I just have to kill many zombies along the way. It is very frustrating when dodging even one zombie 25 * to get the final doll which I have to do.

Makes me wonder if there is a survival skill tree in this game... So you can escape a frontal grab with no damage at low chance. I remember in some RE game when you are grabbed from the front and you have a handgun, during the struggle you aim and shoot the zombie in the face. I think Outbreak file 2 has that.

I really love the dodge mechanic here, not to mention for gameplay wise, but also as a sense that the character itself has far more experience, for example, we have Leon and Claire in RE2 Remake, they never faced zombies before, so they don't know how excatly predict the movements of the enemies and make a dodge, Jill by other hand, has allready faced these things in RE 1 back at the Mansion, so in RE 3 she feels more like a seasoned, veteran fighter, and not so "tanky" and slow. Probabbly, this could be the best RE game when it comes to character movement and game mechanic with the exception of RE4, it's complicated at first, but once you get the hand of it, it feels damn good! ouo

I can say cloud strife of ff7 is not present in the beginning of series of final fantasy but he is still the official face of the franchise. Same goes for assassin's creed franchise ezio is not the first protagonist but he still considered as the face of the franchise. It is all about the popularity and impact. At most leon and chris have the most impact on the series of resident evil. Go check all those public polls and voting, u will find leon to be at popularity top always maybe often Chris as well.

I'm so impressed by the zombie dodging. I'm terrible at it to the point it felt worthless to try and not just run around them or shoot. Nemesis timing is the instant whichever attack will make impact with Jill so you can dodge almost like a rhythm game where the "beat" would be the impact with Jill's face. The zombies though don't telegraph their grabs so I'm guessing you have to trigger the dodge the moment they begin their animation (when they are close). I got ONE perfect dodge on my playthrough of a zombie and it was only because he was far enough away that I could see him lunging, but as you show that's just easier to turn around and make him whiff lol. I've only played once, so time to practice, but thanks, I was going to ignore dodging zombies entirely until this.

It's easier to perfect dodge zombies when you're runing to the side of them instead of running toward them head-on. Another tips is when the zombies holding their both arms forward, that's the perfect timing to get perfect dodge.

For me it's inconsistent as hell. The game leaves such a small window for you to perform the dodge that if your frame rate happens to dip a little you will miss it. Especially if you have input lag while having vsync enabled. Its pretty much impossible for me.

I spent about a little over an hour practicing this perfect dodge last night. One thing I discovered was this, the knife equipped some how makes it easier. By Aiming and then slashing right afterwords, you effectively increase the perfect dodge window within just a zombies arm reach. Was actually easier this way instead of just pressing the dodge button. Between the biggining of her ready position to right before she starts stabbing is the "window" Practice on zombies first, dogs, hunters, and even (Gulp) nemesis

I wish I could see the frame data for the dodge. I keep thinking the timing would be the same as say, dark soul's parry, but it really doesn't feel like it. It feels like you need to let the animation get to like 1/10th of the way through and then connect with the enemy's attack. Carlos's punch has way more leeway and works much more reliably. Hopefully one day someone will find the exact answer to the perfect dodge since at the moment it feels like everyone is 90% sure how it works.

My first perfect dodge was when I went down the alleyway with the zombies and the barrel at the end ( in the dark to the right )and I was backing up and I thought I heard something behind me and I press the dodge button ,as the zombie got up and lunged at me and I did a perfect time event hitting him in the head and blowing up the barrel taking out the 2 other zombies 3 with 2 bullets -felt like a boss lol 😂 ( got a grenade and shotgun Nd hand gun bullets in there ) Then I got demolished my nemesis, and I went for round two ...and I got 2 perfect Dodges off cause he comes with a 3 piecer and If your health is low you could be dead, but I moved out of the way with the second dodge clearing enough space to hit him directly in the chest with a shotgun twice putting him down ,Then I wasn’t sure if he was going to come back after me so I wanted to test it a little bit, and he came off the side of the building scared the crap out of me and I threw a grenade at him (at 3am in the morning with headphones one most people would do the same lol 😂 )but yea Definitely like that counterattack with a knife, going to try it right now ! Just a quick pro tip to those that try and flick the analog and R1 - space bar. you can hold the direction and kind of keep hitting R1 to time the attack to the dodge and it makes it easier if you are flicking it beforehand it made a difference for me.

I bought this game on sale 2 years ago. I beat 2 multiple times. This was always there but I just kept putting it off. I just beat 2 again after about year from last time and I was like oh yeah I never played 3. I have to say on PS5 the ray tracing and lighting effects keep me distracted because they look so good. I love this mechanic. Perfect counter or Parry always be my favorite mechanic in any action orientated since I played Dark Souls. I wish resident evil 2 remake had this mechanic since it had longer level design and enemies amount. Here's a perfect dodge tip: do not look at the hands but look at the zombie's stomach/chest area when s/he lunges (i.e. hands stretched out and in leaned forward position)! When that stomach/chest area gets close perform the dodge and it should pull off the perfect dodge! Here's a perfect dodge tip for Nemesis:... don't know its very tricky.

You forgot to include Offensive Knife Retreat Its when you combo the knife with the analog stick and Jill would do a strong stab and step back a few meter from the target. Ita helpful for a quick retreat or to secure a space while doing stab damage to a zomb.

If the zombie has its arms out AND lets out a scream, that's your cue to dodge. This has worked for me 100% of the time...as long as you're not dodging INTO the zombie.

I haven't fully tried it yet but it's very likely that you can do "evade cancel" too in this game (quick scope/aim then evade/dodge). It's a carried over tech from RERev2. Very useful tech to fast attack enemy while keep your distance as in rerev2 some monsters would run toward you pretty fast.

Running to them and dodging forward seems to work best for me even for nemesis. Maybe because of the panic that may end up pushing the dodge button early. Since that is the case, if you are running, you and the zombie will interact a bit faster and of course the zombie will try to grab in advance since you are running towards it so even if you press the dodge button a little bit early you might still get the perfect dodge

A note on the quick-event buttons: The screen shows only one, but you can see in the notes all buttons are highlighted, and you can actually mash all buttons AND move your sticks as fast as possible for an even faster release from grabs. Works great if you keep the events as pressing instead of holding, and naturally move the left stick as if in normal combat.

When a zombo grabs you it is much better if you smash every other button to fill the meter faster (almost instantly), so every button fills the meter not only the prompted one.

Dodging doesn't seem to make any sense to the zombies animations, like right towards the end there where you say you get super frustrated when trying it sometimes and we see you take damage, I went into x0.25 speed and there is literally no lunge animation, the split second I see the zombie do any kind of animation you see Jill go from knife ready position and straight into taking damage, there's no reaction time because there's no animation, this is what's confusing me about the inconsistency in dodging in this game, which means what? the best way to dodge is to keep walking back and hope it makes a lunge? run to the side of it and hope you get that split second of reaction because it has to turn to lunge? yeah, I don't understand lol

SEXY game i was able to pull a no hit full run for the demo, it took me only two tries, but the demo is super short and easy i can tell it would be a challenge to pull same concept for the full game especially to make a series playthrough like i intend to do in the future i was thinking if the dodge had a cool-down system but maybe i was wrong about that i know the timing matters but most importantly the direction were you are dashing through i think is key to figure what is the best direction to quick step on enemies to be able to avoid damage reliably RE3 is harder than RE2 i can tell despite having so many great more polished mechanics i also knew that RE3 remake will bring the dodge system back again since anyway it was the original RE3 NEMESIS that featured

Best way to perfect dodge a zombie: Run away and keep yourself a distance from one. Stand still and wait for it to walk toward you until it's a few feet away from you. Then walk sideways while it continues forward and tap the dodge button as soon as you hear its' scream and begins to attack you. Also, carry the combat manual (you'll need at least 4600 points to buy it in the records shop once completing the game in any difficulty mode) in your inventory for easier perfect dodges.

A bit of additional information: The normal dodge does have a cooldown after three consecutive dodges. It's very brief, but immobilizes the character for the duration, so throwing out three in row should always be a last resort. Also, regarding the 'lucky dodge,' it's not exactly lucky or random. It happens when you try to skirt past a zombie and they grab you from the side, and you can manually break the grab by directing your character in the opposite angle of the grab relative to the camera--so, if grabbed from the northeast, fling the stick southwest--as soon as you can. It's incredibly difficult (for me) to do on reaction, and the window might even be frame-specific, but it's doable.

I found the best way to learn the mechanics of dodging is going up to AC vents area where the chick is chomping on a dude next to a red barrel where the yellow ladder is. Easiest dodge with the zombies is rolling towards them as the are just about to attack.

Thank you for this! I literally haven't been bitten once since this and can no item the game. Unfortunately, Nemesis is incredibly difficult to dodge sometimes. I'll do the same dodges for the exact same Nemesis moves at the exact same time and get different results each time. I'll either Perfect dodge, normal dodge, or get hit with a nasty combo. Not sure if this has to do with difficulty/adaptive difficulty since a lot of people are claiming it's easier to dodge on Assisted or after a few deaths.

Yeah I was dodging some attacks, and then when I went to assisted mode (wanted to try the machine gun) then dodging was far easier. There's def more leeway
