Learn how to don Tefilin correctly as commanded in Torah with Rabbi Chaim Steinmetz. Laying tefillin is a deeply meaningful and symbolic act for those of the Jewish faith. The tefillin, also known as phylacteries, are small black leather boxes containing handwritten parchment scrolls with verses from the Torah. When one puts on tefillin, they are binding the words of God to their arm and forehead, symbolizing the commitment to serve God with both their thoughts and actions. This daily practice is a reminder of the connection between the individual and their faith, as well as a physical manifestation of their devotion to the commandments. Laying tefillin is a powerful way to start the day with intention, focus, and a sense of purpose, and it can provide a sense of comfort and guidance throughout one's daily activities.
Chabad pioneered the concept that the Torah must be accessible to men and women at every social, economic and educational level. Once centered in the Russian town of Lubavitch, translated as “the city of brotherly love,” Chabad now serves the needs of millions at more than 4,000 centers worldwide.

I have watched many videos on how to put on Tefilin. This is unquestionably the most useful. I don't recall seeing the part describing the point at which you make the bracha on the shel rosh though.

Thanks for the compliment. Regarding Bracha on Shel Rosh, in the Chabad custom, we do not say a Bracha (unless one spoke between Shel Yad and Shel Rosh.)

Beautiful thanks. Good tip to separate the head straps and hold the knot at the same time with the same hand. Do you know where I could get a set of Shimusha Rabba Tefillin?

I see this is S'fardi custom. So these are normally put on while sitting. At least that what I have learned from somewhere.. Also, what isn't told in the video, but what I like about this way of putting on tefillin - is that the letters sjin-dalet-jud vorm the word 'sjadai' which means 'almighty' and refers to Gen. 17:1 'El sjadai' - Almighty God. The S'fardim therefore interpret the words of the sjma more thoroughly than the Asjkenazim because tefillin should be put on to be 'as a (distinguishing) mark on their hand/arm'. Why is it more thoroughly? As I wrote - 'jad' means both hand and arm. And Asjkenazim only create a sjin on their *hand*. (I'm just a sjabbesgoj sharing knowledge so if this is not correct please comemcnt..)

Hi, thanks for your comments. The instructions follow the Chabad custom, and in the Chabad custom, we sit while putting on Tefilin. I am unsure about Ashkenazi tradition in creating the three letters of G-d's name. But this is the Chabad custom, that the three letters, Shi"n - on top, and the Dale"d and Yu"d on the hand.
Spies, what was wrong with them, with Rabbi Chaim Steinmetz: Shelach Portion - Torah 5784!
