for me the setting that says "Show me on Tinder" shows a description of: you won't show up in the card stack but can still message your existing matches

Hi Josh, If you have the "show me on Tinder" feature enabled, other users will be able to see your profile and can "like" you if they want. If you have it disabled, other users will not see your profile so you cannot get any new matches, but as you said you can still contact existing matches.

Hi there, If you've previously created a Tinder profile and accidentally logged out, you can log in to Tinder again with Facebook the same way you did when you first signed up. The app will automatically recognize that you have an existing profile attached to your Facebook account, and will allow you to sign in.
