How to Draft Better: Brawler Matchups Explained

Why are you pretending like control isn't a thing, we all know that the control brawlers can control parts of the map in their own unique way. Also it's weird that you didn't even once mention zooning, even tho zoning is what naturally happens during the gameplay.

In my opinion, to some extent every brawler can "control" and "zone out" parts of the map, whether it's a tank or assassin or sniper or whatever. And there's no advantage drafting-wise for "control" brawlers having their own category separate from snipers and throwers anyways, like you don't go into a draft and see a "control" brawler on the enemy team and think, "oh yeah I can counter control brawlers with ___", or vice versa, you don't generally use "control" brawlers as a category to counter other categories. What counters Griff Gale and Lou is different from what counters Sandy Squeak and Mr P. The "control" brawlers more or less fall in line with the other existing archetypes for the most part, and their play style reflects that too. Every other archetype has a distinct play style that's different and unique from the other archetypes, while also being consistent with other brawlers in their own archetype. But "control" brawlers are more of a diverse grab bag similar to my "Supports" archetype where you have tank counters, supports, and tanks all in the same group. This is the main reason why I think "control" as a class isn't really necessary for people to consider when drafting or thinking about which brawlers to upgrade. Since it has no functional use, I decided to delete it for this video. Hope this helps!

I would say Generally speaking that controllers want to slow the game down by controlling certain parts of the map through their ability’s like slows, aoe attacks, chip damage from range etc. and the direct counter to this sort of archetype is the assassins class which usually has the ability to traverse the map with a movement ability which bypasses the zoning of the controller or they are so quick that a barley ult, fires, Lou ult etc. can’t fulfill its potential

Should have made Brawlers that got a big area control like Lou, Berry, Barley etc. a controller in the vid, sometimes you don't just need a thrower just because there is walls on the map but rather a controller thrower because the gamemode might be hotzone maybe. You won't need control in heist for example.

And I find it funny how Poco and Ruffs are the only support brawlers you did not group on another class, when control fits them like a glove. Jessie's turret also can do that in a way by creating a danger zone unless it's destroyed. In a way nita's bear acts the same as it chases enemies away from your team. But yes, your point still stands that the category isn't really perfect at encompassing what they do, like willow being a controller just because she takes control over enemy brawlers just makes no sense with the category.

CONTROL is really diverse and can be split into 3 if you think about it: Area Control (Controls an area, they can be Spawners like Jessie or place something on a area like Sandy), Enemy Control (Manipulates enemy's movement like Gale and Gene so you teammate can easily kill or avoid them), and Emz (Emz), this semi archetypes can merge

Controllers are basically characters that control the flow of the game in any way. Usually enemy placement. Such as how Willow shuts off certain parts of the map and how mr P usually corners people with his porters.

will you ever do a higher level draft video? like what to 2nd3rd/4th5th pick. 1st and last pick are usually pretty simple to understand but the ones in between aren't. id love to know what sort of brawlers you should always have one of, in different modes. And how late you can pick them. (+ some explanation on what effects how early a brawler can be picked)
