HOW TO DRAPE WINDOW SCARF

HOW TO DRAPE WINDOW SCARF VIDEO TUTORIAL and TIPS! Use a scarf to frame your blinds or sheers. You want the coverage of window blinds or the translucency of sheers, but they leave the window looking too plain. Using a window scarf in such situations adds the decorative touch you need to spice up the windows and the room. Create depth to the room. Use scarf hooks or sconces at the outer top side of your window to hang scarves over sheers or light fabric. Layer your scarves. Use more than 1 scarf at the top of your window to add regal elegance to your windows. Position 3 scarf hooks atop the length of the window. Drape one scarf from 1 end hook across to the other end hook, draping in the center. With your second scarf, drape it from one end to the center hook and then from the center hook to the far end. This scarf will be draped twice.
Here's is step by step what to do:
1. Buy the fabric of your choice. The fabric should be twice as long as the area you wish to cover.
2. Lay the fabric out on a flat area.
3. Cut it to the desired length.
4. Fold the fabric accordion-style lengthwise. You can make the folds any size you wish. Secure the folds with safety pins.
5. Install two brackets on either side of the window.
6. Tie the fabric into place, using a nonstretch trim, ribbon, or yarn.

I am working on a new show so I had to go through all my old content. I found what this window looked like before...the drapes only went around the slider and they were super low, the side window had nothing. It looks so much better this way. This is cheap, quick, easy, and if you bring your accent color with you to fabric store it matches perfectly. I can't tell you how many drapes and curtains I have returned online because the color is not the same as the picture. So frustrating.

Awesome Trice and buy fabric that way it is as long as you want and cheaper. Joanns always has coupons. I didn't even finish the edges. The fabric folds over itself, so you cant see the edges anyway.

Is there a formula for figuring out how much material you need for a certain length of window. I have a 140 inch sliding glass door wall and would like to do this. I would like it to hang down maybe about half way on each side.

Yes and the fabric actually matches the accent color in my decor. It is hard to buy fabric online, the color is always off, you literally need to bring an accent pillow with you and match the fabric. I was telling someone else that I didn't even finish the edges. The fabric folds over itself, so you cant see the edges anyway.

Any recollection on 1) where you purchased it; and 2) the material makeup (ie, silk, polyester, nylon, blend)? You mean style wise or less damage? I mean you have to make the wholes, but if you are there for a while, it is your home, so it is worth it. Instantly warms a room up. My rule is to always take them to the ceiling. It brings the eye up and makes the room look more grand:)

You could use a curtain as a scarf if it’s long enough which I don’t think it will be. You could sew two of them together but you need to release the hem and make a new one because the hem on a curtain usually at the bottom is about 3 inches. A valance usually just has a finished edge.

Hi Mrs. Brown! I have done just a valance over a kitchen window before to add a little bit of Decour swag. Sometimes it’s better because the windowsill tends to get dusty. Is the window on a wall or is the window behind the kitchen sink can you give me a little more information. Regardless I have this same window in the room next to what you’re looking at and that’s my kitchen and I did the same thing for continuity.
