How to Draw Clouds with Colored Pencil | Step-By-Step

In this video I take you step-by-step on how to draw clouds with colored pencil. This is colored pencils only, I do not use OMS (odorless Mineral Spirits) in this demonstration.
Clouds Start: 39:20
Supplies used:
Bristol Vellum Paper
Prismacolor Colored Pencils - White, Cerulean Blue, Blue Lake, Periwinkle, Cloud Blue, Powder Blue, Sky Blue Light, Electric Blue, Carribean Sea, Blue Violet Lake, 10% Cool Grey, 20% Cool Grey.
You can complete your clouds using any colors you like and make them stormy or more fluffy the choice is yours. I am just showing you my technique for creating clouds and blending.
Feel free to experiment, take your time and really get to know your pencils and how they lay down and pay special attention to how they blend without the use of OMS.

1 way to long 2 you say how you colored it to look real but you didn't say how you draw them did you just do random waves with your pencil did you had a though in mind I need more explanation shorter video

Thank you for your feedback. My step by step videos are real time so they are as long as it takes to complete a project. I don’t believe step by step should be cut out or drastically sped up in places because it is inevitably a part someone wanted to know. I know when I was learning that’s how I felt. You always have the option to speed it up or scrub through to the parts your most interested in. I do appreciate you letting me know though. As far as how I drew them I used a reference photo and created a line drawing from that reference and then transferred it onto my paper. It did not cross my mind to include that or explain because unless you are completely new to art and this is your very first piece, most people have their own way of transferring or creating their line drawing. I then use the line drawing as a guide and may make adjustments as I work through the piece. I hope this helped you understand how I got the drawing on the paper. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate your feedback and will consider mentioning how I transfer drawings on to the surface in the future. Great suggestion.

Thank you. Really appreciate your feedback. I do tell the colors I used in the video as I work and also have them listed in the description. Keep in mind also that it is more about the values you create than the actual color you use. As long as you get the values right any colors can be used. Yes. This way you have a road map as to where you main formations go. By no means do you have to put that many or any at all. That’s totally up to you. You can also change as you go and just use those as guidelines. Again, the choice is yours. Having the road map especially for those just learning is important for successful drawings in my opinion.
