4 years ago when I was 12, I found this video. After watching this video and a few others of yours, I started drawing. At first I wasn't great (I was bad, really), but I always used this guideline. Back then I just closed the video after I was done, not knowing who made it. Fastforward 4 years and I draw and write as an amateur. I found this video again, just by chance and I have to say: Thank you, Mark. Thanks to your video, I started doing what I love. And now, thanks to you again, my brother, age 12, is now doing the same.

Almost the same thing happened to me. Just watching some of his newer stuff and I just fell into a deep state of nostalgia and went back to this video, my very first video of his and my very first attempt at art. I was immediately pulled back into my 12 year old self being so happy that what I made looked like his and immediately showing it to my mother and her saying that I was great. Fuck man, time was so much more simpler being a kid.

I AM STILL STUCK ON THE CIRCLE PART! I think I'm pretty fair at art and what-not, but when I draw I can use any shape but a circle. Ovals? Sure. Half circles? Why not. But just a normal circle is very hard. It makes it even harder with hooves! PS: I'm a sheep.

The thing I love about this guy is how confident his strokes are, also one thing about his videos is that he talks about what we want from his videos but I feel he should do what he is comfortable with, because it's art and it's the way you express yourself that effects the way it turns out. I know this is an old video but it's one of my favorites as it's the first one I've seen, I'm only thirteen so I guess I'm a beginner and I'm still learning my technique I've done my second drawing of manga using this tutorial, my first was years ago but I really like his techniques and I can't wait to learn more!

I remember watching this when I was 8 or 9 years old. That was the year I first started drawing. I still have the drawing I made watching this. I'm 13 (turning 14 soon) and still drawing. I first started getting good when I followed the instructions of your videos and books. What you've done has been life-changing for me, Mark. Don't ever give up! Don't give in to the 817 haters who disliked this video, and all your other videos! Just remember that you've changed the lives of so many people, inspiring people who later became great artists! I have a case chronic depression (it's in my genetics; I get it from my mom), and when I was little, drawing was the only thing I could do to sooth myself. It got me through so many years of heartache and pain from my chemical imbalances and the bullies who would almost push me to the breaking point. I survived through all the pain because of you. I'd like to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, and all the other artists who teach people like me how to improve. Thank you, Mark Crilley, Sincerely, Ciara, the Deep Sea Girl. :)

I've always hated guide lines! I never thought they'd really help or be useful. When you said if you don't like guidelines then you might not wanna do this or whatever, I WAS REALLY GONNA SCREAM! But then I knew you were awesome at drawing manga! So I decided to try this. When I thought my eyes would derp or whatever THAT PROBLEM'S SOLVED! My drawing turned out perfect! Thank you so much! This was very very very helpful!

Mark, you are literally a god when it comes to drawing, not just manga but everything. You're what inspired me to learn to actually draw manga, instead of just reading it or just watching anime. When I am older, I plan to create my own manga, and I thank you for teaching us all the basics and some of the more advanced parts when it comes to drawing! And I hope you create another manga, Brody's Ghost is amazing!

I'm fairly new to drawing manga and such, when I first started I would just trace the different things to get a feel of what to do. I felt like I was learning to write all over again, except with drawing. about a month after tracing I would start roughly drawing off of "well it sort of looks like this.." I begged my mom to let me get the "Mastering Manga" Book and it's been super helpful, I have old drawings that I compare to now drawings and It's obvious I've improved a lot! I'm now able to draw circles that actually look like circles and almost straight lines, I drew a slightly thicker neck so i'll just say it's a guy ^^ Thank you Mark Crilley for helping me with my manga! :D

I was 11 years old when I first discovered this video, which started my art journey. Today it's been 10 years since then, and to celebrate my progress and growth as an artist, I decided to redo my follow-along attempt. It's incredibly nostalgic and I couldn't have had a better role model while growing up.

Wow this was the first video I watched when I was 12 and started to get serious about my art. I remember I drew it as what I thought was "really good" and it inspired me to keep going. I'm nearly 16 now and I've come so far!!! I don't draw manga anymore but I still look up to you as one of my biggest inspirations Mark. Thanks!
